WAN's weight loss journal

Hi. I have been struggling with my weight for a really long time, however this past week really gave me the motivation to get serious about it. I went to 6 interviews and I didn't get any calls. I blame it on my weight--I look really fat and unattractive, and my stomach protrudes. I am a 36 years old female, my height is 5 foot 6, and I weigh 167 lbs. My BMI is 27. The normal range is 18 to 25.
I consulted an online weight loss calculator and it said I would need to cut down my calorie-intake to about 1250 to 1450. I think I can do this. I have decided to revise my diet to the following: for breakfast, I am going to eat two scoops/ladles of oatmeal (oats mixed with brown rice). It is boiled in plain water and with no other additions. Then an averaged-sized apple. For lunch, I am going to eat only a hard-boiled egg. I haven't really decided, I think I might swap this out for an orange, for maximum weight loss. For dinner, I am only going to eat veggies, which will be stirred fried in oil.
What do you guys think of my weight loss plan? I aim to lose 10 pounds in one month, just in time to apply for Christmas seasonal jobs.

Are you dieting only, or going to exercise?
You really should be exercising too. You don't want to eat to little and mess your metabolism up, but please answer my first question and I might have more to say.

Right now I have very light/moderate exercise. I go for a leisurely walk everyday for about 50 minutes to 1 hour. Other than this I have a pretty sedentary life.

You proteins....
I would go Hard boiled eggs in the morning with OJ
Chicken salad using minimal dressing
Dinner, trow some shrimp in the stir fry. Perhaps a small potato.
All other craving: Eat any veggies. As much as you possibly can.

Well if you're serious about your weight loss, then you're going to have to be serious about getting and staying active.
No offense but leisurely walks wont help you loose weight. Can you join a gym? I would suggest getting into running or cycling 6 days a week, and some light weights/strength training mixed in there 3-4 times a week. Are you in an area where the climate is not to harsh during winter? If your climate isn't so bad, then you should start to run outside. Don't worry about trying to look like the people that have been doing it for years, just get out there and do your best, fuck everybody else. If you worry about what everyone else will think of you huffing and puffing along, then you have already failed. You're the one that has to look at yourself in the mirror everyday, so work hard, have discipline, and you WILL achieve you goals.
A bike is also a good starting point, they are easier on your knees, especially because of you being overweight this might be good for you.
Regarding your diet, sure the whole thing you got going on in your first post might look good on paper, but you need to factor in what it's like being human, what I mean by that is you're going crave the shit that got you into this predicament, which is why it's important to eat properly so that you're not more apt to break your diet and binge eat.
Breakfast if my favorite meal, I find it keep me going for a very long time if I eat a decent breakfast so I don't skimp on the calories here, with lunch being my lightest meal each day, and dinner being just a normal size dinner for a dude, but I also cycle/run religiously so can easily eat a lot, anyway enough about my eating habits, back to you.
Oatmeal is good, it's a complex carb so will keep you satiated longer, and you can add all sorts of stuff to it, but don't add sugar. Take a banana or an apple and cook it with the oatmeal, if you need a hint of sweetness then maybe try some stevia, which is calorie free and mighty sweet, but don't get in the habit of making everything you eat overly sweet because this can trigger binges in people accustomed to eating sugar laden garbage. Once you eat healthy for a little bit your taste buds will actually prefer the healthier tasting options. I love a nice apple with some oatmeal and cinnamon on top, shits good.
Greek yogurt is another good one for breakfast, there are a number of low carb options for those watching their waists and being health conscious to choose from, it's full of protein which will help fill you up, and they're low in calories, opt for the low sugar ones such as chobani simple, or dannon light and fit.
I am happy eating a piece of fruit for lunch, but everyone is different. Hey I gotta run, like I literally have to go for a run so I will get back to this thread, but gotta go, promise to post more when I get back, will add to faves so I don't forget.

Thanks for your post. It appeared that you put a lot of thought into it, so I appreciate it.
Right now I am not going to a gym because I am trying to save money (currently unemployed). I think I will just start jogging everyday, it's the cheapest option for me. I realize that exercise is important to weight loss, however typically I just lack the motivation for it. I find it easier to just eat less as to compensate for it.
I liked your suggestion of adding low sugar yogurt. I totally forgot about it. I think it will be good because I noticed that I don't have a source for protein in my diet. There are many different kinds of yogurt at our local grocery store. I just need to find a plain one, although truthfully I don't like the taste of it. I lean towards the flavoured ones, although I know they are not as good.

My best bit of advice being a 32 year old female at my ideal weight and fitness level is don't ever miss an opportunity to turn even the simplest movements into a workout. At work, if I'm going from one part of the building to another, I make sure to have something in my arms. If it isn't very heavy, it's over my head or outside my center of gravity. I stand at my desk. I do squats when I put away groceries. It works! There are plenty of times I would much rather be lazy but I think back to when I was heavier and unhappy. Fuck that.
Try not to set unrealistic goals. Use positive language when you talk to yourself or about yourself. It makes a difference. And remember, you can do it.

If you're not trying to exercise a lot that can work too, but your results will not come as quickly and you will have different food options, with a sedentary life style low carbs is probably the route you would want to go. But if you just put in some simple body weight exercises a few days out of the week, with jogging 5-6 days out of the week, I think you will be happier and able to eat a more diverse amount of healthy foods.
I am just offering suggestions which MIGHT help you. I think with some exercise though, and 3 meals a day 400-500 calories each meal, you will be able to reach your goal. The thing is once you start seeing results, and trust me they will come if you stick with it, they will motivate you to keep on the right track.
You also might not want to be around people that will drag you down, taking care of your health can be harder than it looks, especially if all your friends are shoving shit in your face which would derail you, don't make excuses and say "well just this once I will eat this pie" you will be much happier if you abstain from whatever is tempting you. Maybe read a book, log onto shroomery, watch a movie, do something to take your mind off of cravings which will come up.
I am sorry I cannot be more help now, I am tired from my 20mile bike ride and 5K run I did after work and really only feel like shit posting now, but keep this thread alive and I will chime in from time to time. Oh yeah one more thing, don't limit your options on the foods, and skipping meals is bad because it can fuck up your metabolism, there are TONS of online resources out there which can help you find a proper diet for yourself, I suggest you use them. I have only applied what I know from reading about healthy crap for a bit, I will try to revisit this thread at some time in the future when I am not so beat.
Set small goals, achieve them first, then move on to bigger ones. Start by running a mile, then two, then three, etc. You might get discouraged from time to time, this is normal, but what matters is pushing on through these feelings, having respect for yourself, believing in yourself.
Always nice to help those achieve their goals, I hope you achieve yours.

I think 1400 calories is very little. Your body will probably go into starvation mode and losing weight will become even harder.
I lost a lot of weight with a paleo style diet.
Try and move as much as possible. Start running and look into Kettlebell training

id love to take it off you, hun could use another 10kg to survive the winter
mixing fruit/vegetable juice (definetly add lemon) helps a lot to curb the hunger too but ya depends on what you do in life if you have to do heavy physical labour... you'll have to eat
