Help! Me and my dog have valley fever.

I have the valley fever fungal infection in my lungs. I picked it up while digging for crystals in Arizona and ran into a rattlesnake nest pocket full of crystals and moldy soil. I've had it for 4 weeks now, and been hospitalized 4 times. I would like to hear from others who have had this and gotten over it. How and what did you use? My doctors don't want to give me the antifungal drugs due to their harmful side effects and I mostly agree. Please only people who know about this respond.

try large doses of beneficial shrooms. i dont know if it will help you, turkey tail, agarakon, reishi, miatake, shitake. take a gram of each every day for a week and see if you feel better. i mean its better than doing nothing which seems what the doc wants to do.

i've never had it. it sounds aweful.

Just keep your head up passiflora! Just take care of yourself, drink plenty of water and get your rest. You will get through this! Do your doctors say whether or not your case is severe?

It's severe with multiple glassy nodules in my lungs. They confirmed the valley fever today from blood work done almost 2 weeks ago. They took another x-ray today and are starting me on the fluconazole fungicide drug, same as the vet has been giving my dog. The only thing that has been giving me any relief are pain killers, but my doctor is stingy with them. I see him in a couple hours and I'm done with him if he makes me suffer through this anymore.

Damn. I really hope he gives you something else for the pain. I figured it took a while of progression for nodules in your lungs to develop. How long ago were you exposed? 4 weeks, like you said? Good luck at the doctor's!

Thanks for the concern :bunnyhug:. We both got over it but it took my dog awhile longer. I'm scared to death of digging in Arizona anymore, but I have tourmaline claims in Pala California that I need to work this winter. I'll probably wear a mask when digging and always make sure my dog is upwind. I spent the summer digging for aquamarine at 14,000' and had not breathing issues whatsoever. I can breathe easier up there it seems. I got home from the dustiest year ever at burning man and haven't developed a lung infection yet. I only wore a mask there during one really bad white out while I was trying to sleep. I'm also smoking herb in massive amounts, so I must be good to go.
