are dogs killed my cat today
    #1504557 - 04/29/03 03:19 PM (14 years, 2 months ago)

two of are german shepards ran up
staires and ripped up my cat.
he was still alive when I found him.
the vet said his back had been broken
so we had him put to sleep.
what a horrible way to die.
I feel responsible because we have
a gate at the bottom of the stairs
I could of put up when I left.
we don't put it up very often
because the dogs have never ran
up the stairs before.
this sucks, I like my  cats much more than the dogs.
peace,
zero :frown:

his name was odie.
he was a very mellow lovable cat.
It hurt to see him broken and ripped
open.
he was crying and there was nothing
I could do to help him.
I never thought I would feel so bad
about losing a pet.
we have had him for 8 yrs.
I am going to bury him at my grandmothers
house.
peace,
zero

I'm so sorry to hear that,
I had a cat named Ceesea when I was about 7 or 8, and my dog was looking at the cat and licking it's feet, so I leaned down a little to see if my dog liked the cat and he ripped the cat out of my hands, broke it's back, and had inflicted the same general injuries your cat had.
It was the absolute worst feeling I think I have ever had, my cat had to be put to sleep, and it was all my fault.

You cant blame yourself though, you didn't know the dogs were gonna run up the stairs, you could not have for seen that type of incident, just as I never meant to hurt my cat, though it was my fault cause I literally fed my cat to the dog :frown:

I hope that makes you feel a little better, though I dont think much can.

Good Luck, Time will heal all

That is a very sad story dude, my most sincere condolences. Try not to be too hard on yourself, that was just dog nature at work, if they hadn't have attacked your cat when they did they probably would have at some other time....go out and get a new kitty

I'm very sorry to hear about that zero.  I have two cats - Katie and Oreo.  I can't imagine if my Oreo got killed like that.  Really am sorry to hear that, I can't imagine how you must feel.

Go out and get another cat tomorrow, I think that's the best thing to do.  Sorry.  :frown:

Awww. Man thats awful. I love cats and grew up with a house full of cats. Now that I'm in college I really miss my kitties, especially my grey guy :frown: No matter what some people say cats can be true companions. Sorry to hear for your loss, especially in the manner in which it happened. An animal suffering is really awful to me. Go out and find a new kitty even though it won't replace your old one. It will definately make you feel better.

Sorry to hear about your kitty. I love dogs and cats and to hear of them dying hurts my heart. Don't know what I'd do if something happened to my puppy. Sorry and hope things get better for you.

I had a cat once named Panther. She was with me 19 years... Her vision was deteriorating and she'd have trouble breathing sometimes... but generally speaking, she was doing fine.

I had a real connection with her...

When I was very young, my mother was playfighting with me... Panther took it as if she was trying to hurt me and bit my mom in the butt!

LOL

I still remember that... it was the funniest thing I've ever seen!

One day, I walk into the living room... and Panther was convulsing... I couldn't believe it! I brought her in my arms to my room and put her on my bed. She was clearly fighting for air for quite a while.... She blindly raised her face towards me and with claws extended, she tried to grasp at me. Then she died...

I'll never forget that...

Death of a close one is never easy to handle... especially if it played out tragically in the end.

I feel for you... I know how it is.

thanks for the support.
it's hard not to blame myself
and the dogs.
I know it's just prey drive for the dogs
I found a good reason to drink,
I'm pretty buzzed right now.
peace,

horrible story! take your dogs outside and place your dead cat where they can see and smell him. that way they know what is going on. then beat your dogs good. they'll know whats up. i hate to say this but thats what your story makes me feel like doing.

it's not the dog's fault.
i would like to hurt the dogs
but thats unacceptable.

Sorry for your loss...

but you did have two german shepherds in the same house as a cat. This was almost bound to happen, especially with two of the pups.

But whoever is saying "Beat the dogs!" deserves to get beat themselves.

It's canine nature. How bout we beat you for eating that ham sandwich?

I love cats and dogs, no bias here.

man we had barn cats and dogs and often kittens and let me tell you thats a combination for some unhappy events.  The dogs don't know better, they're just playing. :frown:  I tell you though we had some of the smartest cats (the rest died).

And rabbits.  I don't even want to think about the morning a batch of my bunnies got out.

I'm so sorry dude. I love animals, though cats don't really like me much cuz i tend to pet them like dogs, and usually get bit. My dog is the nicest dog in the whole world, but he is always trying to maul other animals, especially cats. Thats just instinct. Don't blame yourself or the dogs, thats just the way life is. It comes to an end. Just think about how lucky your cat is to see what its like on the other side

Peace
