What your favorite Bob Weir songs? First few I can think of are Jack Straw, Black Throated Wind, The Music Never Stopped.

These 2 have become some of my absolute dead favorites, though it didn't start that way..

I love bobby's nice full tone... its so warm

My favorite Jack Straw is prob. 5-8-77 Cornell. My fav. black throated wind is from Rockin' The Rhein '72. Though there are tons of greats!

Used to be I couldnt stand Bobby - now his songs are some of my favorite.

Feel like a Stranger
Lazy Lightning / Supplication
Weather Report Suite / Let it Grow
Playing in the Band
Cassidy
Music Never Stopped
Estimated Prophet

Bobby wrote songs that became the best jammers. I guess he wrote such simple songs that improvising on them was cake.

I also like his slower ballads ala Lost Sailor, Looks like Rain, etc.

I cant stand his rock 'n rollers ala Saturday Night, Sugar Mags, etc.

WTF was Victim or the Crime?

His guitar work around 68 was so weird its fascinating. Makes sense why they kicked him out of the band, but fascinating.

Saw him with Ratdog in 2007 at Langerado. He was fuckin' amazing. More than half of his songs were Greatful Dead covers, but there's nothin' wrong with that.

Phil Lesh came in 2008. Also quite amazing. Lots of great guitarists out there, but it's rare you see a bassist jam the way he does. Usually the bass just mimics the notes of the guitar, which is boring as hell.

I've got to throw my 2 cents in for Weather Report Suite and Jack Straw. Cassidy is great but in some ways I don't consider it a true Bobby song, don't ask me why I just don't.

I used to hate Victim but now I'm starting to really love it.

My wife loves Looks Like Rain but it's a wee bit over-dramatic to me.

As long as Bobby isn't trying to play slide, or do that damn falsetto thing I love it all.

Ive seen bobby in denver with the dead and with furthur at both florida shows. Also will be seeing alot of him at the summer tour shows.

look at some pictures from the 09 dead tour and the 2010 furthur tour. bobby really gogt into shape and is looking good and he is really spot on with this line up they are running with now.

You know you guys should download some of the furthur shows because what bobby is doing now is really impressive. im listening to johhny b good from 2/23/10 at radio city right and its amazing. almost like listening to some 70's dead. ive been tricked and thought that furthur was actually the dead and was like man i havnt jammed some late 70s dead in a while and i look and it was golden road from miami 2010. Also i work with someone who followed them from 80-89 and ive also tricked him and played furthur and when i told him he said damn man n well now that you mnention it i hear it but not really at all at first.
