During fruiting is a particular temperature required?
    #2218014 - 01/04/04 08:02 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Im just reading up on my next stage and on the PF Tek for Simple Minds in the fruiting section it only mentions the perlite/water spray for humidity but nothing about a certain temperature for mushroom growth, and I am pretty sure I recall reading posts about how you should have a set temperature during fruiting.. Can anyone answer this please?

Sorry about all the newb questions..
Thanks yet again,
-Mike

i let mine fluctuate naturally between 70 and the low 80's
if it gets too hot in summer i put a frozen water bottle in there.
when temps drop below 70 i have a 50watt aquarium heater sealed inside a 1 litre bottle, which gets switched on.

hmm.. would i be able to just layer the top bin of my rubbermaid incubator with perlite and use that as a fruiting chamber?

also i was just wondering when it is time to birth the cakes and take em outta the jars do i just slide the cake out along with the dried vermiculite upper layer? or do i have to get rid of the dried vermiculite before i put the cake on the perlite and start fruiting

thanks guys, and very cool hanky u have helped me on several occassions i owe ya..

most people scrape away the dry verm layer.
and yes you can use your tub in a tub as a fruiting chamber, just drop the temps.
