you can find most of you answers in the grow/find section of this web pageperilite is the only good form of humidification, in fact almost all other methods are obsolete, to answer your quetion no a hand sprayer is usually not needed. Most problems with perilite is that it provides to much humidity. caused by either to much perilite or to much water or a combination of the both like i said ealier how much water and perilite to use can be found in the grow/find section ------------------ "Believe none of what you hear and only half of what you see" Sir. Starr, to anwer your question, no you cannot replace the perlite humdification layer with vermiculite. Their properties differ greatly. Sir. Twinkus, your comments on perlite are highly opinionated. I don't believe that it has made all other humidification teks totally obsolete.

Canuck,Perlite is extremely effective. It's probally the more easy way to go to get proper humidification. I have noticed though, if your wanting high humidity (like for cakes) then you need to make sure your tempature is in the range of 76-80, this keeps it perfect, with condensation running from all sides. To achieve this I use a heating pad under my terrium. Works Great! But, with casings, which I'm experimenting with, I've noticed, it works better if you don't have any heat source producing heat, just room temp is fine. Hope this helps you a little.

yes i know that what i said is highly opinonative but that is my opinion (just remember fancier doesn't always mean better, i have a humidifier but i find it much easier and quieter to just throw some water and perilite in the bottom of my terr. works just as good and takes up less space) there are other tek's that work just as good but for a beginer it is easy and cheap i also use a heating pad on a timer under my terr. it works great it does two things at once regulates my heat and humidification the only drawback to this is if you have a strain that fruits better in colder temps for those i would recemend useing another tek. True dat. That would be perfect for the Cambodia strain from Ryche Hawk. Like he says, it flourishes in the heat. It is a good strain.------------------ Baldy
