what can i use as substitute for perlite?

i live in brazil and i can't find perlite anywhere!!! :(
what could i use as a substitute for perlite for the humidification of my terrarium???? ( no, i don;t have money for an ultrasonic humidifier!)

I used vermiculite in the past with good success.

Yes, also good. The substrate that is used for hydroponic growing.
