I always twist them off at the base, with gloves on. I try to cause as little bruising as possible. Go ahead and pick the ones that are ready, and leave the others for an extra day - I do it all the time. After they're all gone, get ready for another flush

Yep, what he said. From the base, twist a tiny bit. Just make sure you have clean hands, and just so you dont breath all over your casing, maybe wear a face mask. No biggie though, I just hait having to hold my breath when getting in close.....
I usually pick the huge ones off no matter whatso that they dont over mature. I then save the rest untill theyre a little bigger. And other times Ill just take them all at onces so that I can start a second flush with no remains from the 1st flush hanging around.

Good luck:) :sun:

theres no real noticeable difference when you pick them potency wise except for the fact that if you dont pick it for a long time it gets ugly, old and is subject to rot and stuff. So just when they look nice. Then the veil breaks...even a few hours after that is ok too.....like I said, no major difference, just dont leave them till thier sagging, black and curled.

Bulletride, (hey, what's up, brother?)

Yep! Pick 'em (by twisting) as they mature. Pick clusters when the majority of fruits have just broken the veil. Usually your entire flush will finish up over a 24 hour period. You will find that many fruits that haven't matured within a day of the first ones, will never do so.

Absintheminded,

They are as potent as they are gonna get right outta the gate. If you were to eat all the babies, you would have quite a nutritious feast.

Your goal should be to maximize yield, which involves letting them gain size up to the point where the veil begins to tear away from the cap. At this point alkaloid production stops and the only real growing is the spreading of the cap, which really adds nothing to total yield.

You may also notice that shrooms left to sporulate will taste a bit fouler than usual. Sometimes this window is narrow and nothing can be done but to pick 'em when you can.

No big deal either way.
Shrooms is shrooms, which is to say: They're all good!!
