Mushroom picking/preservation

The Man wishes to preserve the shrooms that are freshly picked, and dry a large quantity all at once (about a quarter oz dry).
Should I pick the shrooms as soon as the veil starts to tear away one by one, or till they're all tearing?
If one by one, could i put the moist shrooms in a ziplock bag, and then dry them all at once with calcium chloride (all at once, meaning a full flush).
Or would I get the most potentcy drying them as I pick them?

Dry them as you pick them. When you pick them is ur decision. I use a Nesco food dehydrator to dry.. i love it.. I could dry up to several ounces in under 24 hours.. depending on the size of each individual mushroom.

just pick them as soon as the veil brakes and place into some type of drying chamber if you store in a ziplock bag there going to go bruse and crap on you

what is bruse? and since when do mushrooms crap?
since when do mushrooms bruise because you put them in a bag. They will rot.. that's about it.

Dont use heat to dry mushrooms unless your just in it for the fllavour and not tripping. Heat has the potential to lower the potency quite drasticly, psilocybin does not go well with heat or light. A fan or just lying them out in a cool dark place is fine....lying them out takes a while though depending on thickness of the stems and caps

yes they can be purchased at most of the *marts
And yes heat will cause psilocin to break down.. but this one has variable temp.. I keep it on 95 F.. no noticable potency loss

The Man will do it when the veil breaks. Of course he wants to trip! Lets all get a little closer to god, no?

I agree there is no evidence (i've seen none?) but I think alot more people agree that after the mushroom matures it keeps growing biomass but stops producing as much psilocyben....hense more gastral distress and less of a trip eating mature caps... at least i've heard.

That?s exactly the problem of such information.
Too many people heard something and then they take it and make it as if they had tried it out.

now maybe an abort isnt considered a young mushroom and is of a different caste... but I have heard all over the internet they pack a wallap that most specimins dont...so maybe that is where the young/mature thing came to be. ...... I was saying that I have heard from many people that the gain in biomass is all that happens and no loss in potency. (and biomass is hard to digest causing more gastral distress) definitely could be hype. seems to be a consensus though.. was the first time i had heard anyone say mature specimins to be more potent. I still beleive the abort/over mature specimin potency value. but maybe its a myth :P and it does make sense that a week old mature specimin would have less potency than a youngin... here is a picture of freshly decapitated dryng mushrooms... it SEEMS the younger ones are darker, but thats not the case in all of them. i guess its for the viewier to decide... also it seems like they would use some of there systems metabolites to create spores but i could be wrong, as I only aspire to be a mycologyst.
