Confused
    #2168207 - 12/08/03 05:39 AM (12 years, 11 months ago)

Why hello! I believe Mycelium is stringy, but once a jar is covered, would it be pure white, or could you still see the verm through the Mycelium? (my jars are 80% colonized but i can still see verm through it)
My second batch of jars have started colonizing, it is fuzzy rather then stringy, i think it may be cobweb mould but im not sure how to tell seeing as i have never seen either in r/l before..
Would anyone have any suggestions/answers to these questions please?
thanks!

once your jars are 100% you wont see any verm, sometimes it takes awhile for the myc to cover some small bits of verm that didn't get coated in brf during the mixing process.

regarding your second batch, the first few days of new myc growth usually look fuzzy.it takes a few days for strong rhizomorphic(stringy) growth to get established.

mmm thanks dudes..
I'm still not 100% sure my first batch is Mycelium
it IS stringy and it is a really thin layer, like the jar is covered but its so thin that you can see through the Mycelium (and see the Verm) I wish i knew what it looked like! :P

mm My first batch, not fast at all..
How quick is quick?
The second batch (fuzzy) is filling the jar quite quickly, about 1/4 colonized in 4 days, BUT the jars are TINY
They are 1/4 Pint jars (125ml) <-- I was just experimenting
any suggestions?

also note that not all strains will readily produce rhizomorphic mycellia under all conditions, and often, you will see only linear to tomentose colonization in a jar.

cobweb is slightly grey(sometimes appearing white with out something to compare it too) , and looks like hair, long and wispy when mature, not exactly fuzzy. isolate it, and let it go for a couple days, if it gets more hair like, it is cobweb, get rid of it immediately.
