Im deciding onj buying a digital camera
    #2166027 -

At home, I have Kodak DS 260 or something like that. It is comparatively old, and big, but takes perfect pictures. I need a camera thats compact, and still takes professional pictures with great quality and has options for advanced photographers.
There are tons of cameras out there, and tons of sites that offer reviews etc.
After researching I thought Canon Powershot S50 will be a good choice.
I just wanna get some recommendations about cameras, maybe I can read something useful.
Thanks

I would suggest the Canon Powershot A80. needs 4 AA batteries so in case the die, you can find them easily. Probably should get some NIMH batteries. Uses CompactFlash, which now reaches upwards of 6 GB in capacity. Good point and shoot ability for beginners, and lots of manual options for the more advanced.

I would recommend not buying the F-300. I bought one recently, its a wonderful camera and felt solid but it has broken twice in the 4 months I've had it. I don't know if I'll get to use it much before the warranty expires.

They were quick to fix it last time, shipping was only $10...

Do they actually manufacture the camera or is it made by another company for them?

Nice.

Nice pic by the way. Try not getting the roof of your house in the next one and it'll make a nice desktop.

i was looking into this one, and the A70 you mentioned in another thread... the reviews mentioned an optional "macro lense" , does either one have any macro features built in? sorry if this sounds dumb, but im digi stupid, and want a decent priced cam, that takes a good macro... i blew $400 last time, and i ASSUMED since the cam it replaced took good macro's it would but this one didnt..... lol 2 weeks later i sent it to its new home in a pawn shop

Sure.

You can go up to nearly an inch near the object.
This is with A70.
