funny, at first i thought the 2nd post was a rather insightful response from someone who was not you.

think about it. only a manufacturer can fix those things unless you've got some really nice model with such a support base that a pro photog shop might have a tech. for it.

so read your warranty. betcha it tells you how to get it serviced.

How did it break? I just broke mine last month, but I know how to get mine fixed very cheaply, because I just broke the lens, If you dropped it, and it ain't workin, you probraly broke the lens, if you got it wet, or something really techinical is wrong, the price of fixing it will of course be higher than the cost of buying a new one secondhand. However, if it is the lens, than you need to replace that thing. You will probraly have to find some repair shop, and you will have to tell them to replace the lens, if thas what it is.. cuz they won't know what is wrong, they just send it too the workshop and pretend like they fix it at the store. Thas why it takes so long to fix.

If the manufacturer of the digital camera has a web page you can go on it & find the procedure & contact info for returning the unit for service. They may also have a listing of authorized service centers that may be a closer location than the manufacturer location. You could also contact the place you purchased it from to see if they offer any kind of service on the unit, but most retailers end up sending it back to the manufacturer anyways. If you do send it back to the manufacturer for service make sure whether or not you need a Return Authorization number . You would get this number from the manufacturer prior to returning your unit to the manufacturer. If the manufacturer does require a Return Authorization # and there isn't any on the package most manufacturers usually refuse the package.
