Whatever will they do without all 6 planes and 1 ship?

I think there was talk of the Canadian armed forces covertly using the city bus lines, and having refurbished school busses used strictly for special missions

canada is hoping to get inside the US's continental defence. NORAD anyone? Star wars?

Why should we waste our money on a military? SERIOUSLY? There is no way we could defend against the US. and there is NO WAY the US would let any enemy get canada as a foothold. It just doesnt make sence.

Yes,spending billions on "defense" is the way to go.

While they don't have even anything remotely resembling the military industrial complex that we do,they generally have very similar training for their armed forces. Being a gun nut,you should know their snipers are world renowned.

yeah, this a positive effect of the US being a large military power. But realistically, as the world's economy becomes more and more integrated, will a threat of invasion exist? no. There are only terrorists and "rouge states" to worry about these days. China isnt going to invade, neither is Russia, everybody just wants a peice of the consumer pie.

ppl are saying that canada is a traget for extreme islam. we are western. we have easy entry. We aren't on a homeland security kick, so we are a great place to promote terror.

so why hasn't canada been a target of terrorism? Jean Chretien says its because we are a multicultural society. I dont agree, no one is safe from extreme islam. I don't think having a military is going to save us from terrorism tho. Look at the US, largest military force ever assembled, favorite target worldwide.

Britain has been stopping terrorist cells in that country left right and centre. Canada should drop the (traditional) military all together, and focus on what we are good at.

someone mentioned our snipers. we dont need more SeaKing's to keep a reputation for excellent training.

We tend not to piss poeple off, so I see no need for a military....

Um, no. You'd need the aforementioned sense of humor.

if that premier fella (or cheif commisar or prime minister or whatever the chef d'etat call himself up there in canuckia) actually does light up a joint with the fine $ in his hand, well...
we'd just hafta do a pre-emptive strike against our northern neighbor so that the impressionable youth of the good ol' ussa don't get tempted to puff on the demon weed...
maybe we could stage a few statue-topplings & have some NATO advisors come & help ummmm "keep the peace"... & maybe governor busch could visit the occupation force & have some turkey & stuffing...
