My buddy had some of those problems. As far as the hole in the bottom of the terrarium, he has four, and they are all 1/2" holes. He uses 3 stages to dry the air, any more than that is just to much of a bother. With the humidity being to high, he found that if he turned the humidifier off when he went to work every other day or so, this seemed to keep the cakes at a good moisture level. Remember, when the humidifier is off there is no air exchange, so tell your friend to fan the terrarium when he turns the humidifier back on. Good air exchange is a key factor in the pinning stage, so make those holes bigger. He might also want to cover the holes with cheese cloth or an old t-shirt to keep bugs out, my buddy learned that after a few months.

Cakes sometimes need 2-3 weeks to initiate fruiting if setup is not ideal. But Cubensis are really strong so they will overdued everything. Just wait.
