Re: Went to Confession today.... [Re: Almond Flour]

Where the question was leading to was up to you, you could've answered it however you deemed necessary then I would've based my response off of that, but you evaded the question, which is usually what people like you do.

If you would've said you were against slavery and thought it was wrong then I would've called you on it and said you're not a true Christian then, because according to the bible it is more than acceptable, as is selling people into sex slavery and many other fucked up things.

You can't pick and choose which teaching from the bible you follow/agree with, it's all or nothing, or, as you would say, you're going to burn in hell.

Actually, you're wrong.

The verses you are referring to are in the Old Testament. The Old Testament is for the Jews, to the Christians it's just history. Jesus did away with the old laws.

O so you agree I'm not putting words in your mouth now eh? Willing to admit what you were fishing for 9 posts ago :datass: good man.

And once again, this "all or nothing" shit you speak of is malarkey. I have already told you Catholics have no problem with a creation myth, nor do they have a problem speaking out against raping and pillaging In 2015 even though the Israelites did it often in the Old Testament. You know nothing of the Bible, have obviously not read it, and your view on religion as a whole reflects that of a 16 yr old hopped Up on Google searches and Bill Maher skits.

Grow up. I'm done responding to you because you are predictable  and are completely  ignorant on the topic you claim mastery on.

You know gosh damn well where the question "Do you support slavery?" Was leading. So now you wanna deny it because you have been called on your horse shit? Grow a pair :goodmorning:

Wow. Christians get so testy when you point out the fact that the bible is fine with slavery as long as you don't abuse them so badly that they die.

So are you ok with slavery as long as you follow the rules in the bible?

----

There is plenty of stuff about slavery in the New Testament. It is so annoying when Christians don't even know what the bible says. Probably because they don't really bring this shit up in Sunday school.

Ephesians 6:5-8 (NASB): Slaves, be obedient to those who are your masters according to the flesh, with fear and trembling, in the sincerity of your heart, as to Christ; 6not by way of eyeservice, as men-pleasers, but as slaves of Christ, doing the will of God from the heart. 7With good will render service, as to the Lord, and not to men, 8knowing that whatever good thing each one does, this he will receive back from the Lord, whether slave or free.

Simply because the topic of slavery wasn't tackled by the apostles doesn't mean they were in favor of it. Over throwing an entire caste system is an entire other mountain to climb. Getting this whole "Christian" thing to catch on was a big enough struggle, especially when your views are a bit controversial and are getting fed to lions for holding those views :pokerawe:

It says for slaves to obey their masters, and for masters not to be an ass to your slaves. That sounds perfectly reasonable in a society where slavery exists. It could also be argued much the world over such Christian teachings on slavery helped lead to their abolishment. Even if it is a stretch in some areas.

I literally just seen you preaching a few days ago that if you consider yourself a Christian you have to accept the bible in it's entirety.

Parts of the bible directly contradict science/scientific law.

There's nothing to debate here nor can I be wrong about it, it's fact.

I never said anything about Christians preaching scripture alone, and I don't give a fuck if some illogical wannabe troll thinks I'm coming off as a "schmuck", LOL.

You are saying simply because there is poetic and mythic wording in the Bible a Christian MUST be anti science, or he MUST like slavery simply because there are passages telling people not to treat your slaves like shit, or instructing slaves to be obedient. To say otherwise would make them a hypocrite . Grow the fuck up. And like I said before maybe actually learn about what are the core beliefs for those who claim the title "Christian", instead of throwing the same old bullshit argument (used by everyone and their brother) using the rationale of a child  to attack my faith which you know jack shit about.

I'm pretty sure the bible is very explicit about the things you aren't supposed to do. There isn't a lot of "well, you shouldn't do this, but if you do here's how it should be done" Where's the "a man shouldn't lie with another man, but if you are going to go gay be gentle"

Where is the "slavery is an abomination and those who take slaves shall be stoned by said slaves?"

It's not there, because the bible is fine with it. The bible wants the followers of god to enslave no believers.

Your religion is disgusting and immoral.

The bible is just a convenient tool to justify any action they want and if they don't want to follow it, they don't.

Nobody  really   follows the bible.

2414 The seventh commandment forbids acts or enterprises that for any reason - selfish or ideological, commercial, or totalitarian - lead to the enslavement of human beings, to their being bought, sold and exchanged like merchandise, in disregard for their personal dignity. It is a sin against the dignity of persons and their fundamental rights to reduce them by violence to their productive value or to a source of profit. St. Paul directed a Christian master to treat his Christian slave "no longer as a slave but more than a slave, as a beloved brother, . . . both in the flesh and in the Lord."194

So you stand by the 10 commandments?

There's a lot of horrible shit that's not mentioned in them. Rape, just to name one.

There are 622 commandments  in the Old Testament  for the Jews ( I might need to double check those numbers), but the 10 commandments  encompass allot suprisingly. Catholic teaching links rape back to adultry or a sin against chastity. Hence one of the 10 commandments

Any Roman Catholic Church in your area will have confession. Try to find one of the churches websites. It lists the times more often than not. However I think the sacrament is closed for those not entering the Church or IN the Church. if you were eastern Orthodox they would be chill :smirk: Either way double check

Fucking hindsight.  It's amazing how Catholicism ends up caving to social trends in the end - usually about 50 years after everyone else has been enlightened.  The church didn't really give a shit about slavery until someone decided that Irish people made pretty good slaves.
