I always just figured it was from the salt from our water softener. Thanx for the tip though, I dont liek that dom white stuff on my jars!

Yep, it keeps the pressure cooker clean also. If you still notice some white residue on your jars after doing this, add a little more(1/2 cup wouldn't hurt. It depends on your water source. Some regions may be worse than others.

try using distilled water....if you're a serious shroomer, you'll have plenty around. distilled water is free of dissolved minerals that leave the deposits on your jars.
