Have not looked at Zap's wiki links, but they probably say that sometime between 3290 BCE and 683 BCE some one not white/spaniard came and tore some shit up.
Though I could be way the fuck off.
and wiki is not the end-all; be-all source for true and accurate information, but its a damn good start when it comes to social and political debates as it is a TRUELY free and open (for now) public maintained, ever changing database of collected history and general suspicion.
But my point is that the poeple of that area have been under outsiders influence for a long time, ruled by ruthless dictators and practing common law and older variants there of for far longer than the white judeo-christian nations have been in power, and our brothers in france, italy and england are responsible for bringing these people carbine powered hand held weapons and incendary devices long before the era of the warlike american nation.
We were still "Discovering" our country and lands when the brits were killing camel jockys, but hte fact remains, the word jihad means a holy war WITH god, not against any oppressor - we just happen to fit a profile for a body that stands for everything evil in their ideology, we've handed them the weapons: on MANY fronts to fight back against us, and worse yet we gave them a rock solid reason to fuck with us around every curve.
We've literally and figuratively opened a pandoras box, and its not a fucking treat what we've found within!

It's cause we were already across the ocean invading their muslim asses in the very early 1800s.

Granted the Barbary states were basically viewed as universal scum, used by the Ottomans as a proxy weapon to weaken other nations. I don't feel there was much more motivation than that, that I know of at least.

The motivation was that they were kidnapping our sailors and making them into slaves.  We did not invade their shitty little countries.
