Well that's strange because I'm in Texas as well. I have never heard of any of this shit before and I've had my share of traffic bullshit. I was actually in a wreck as an unlicensed and uninsured driver and nothing ever involved a DA. Traffic court is very straight forward. Officer writes up report, gives you a court date, you go to a judge, you plead guilty or not guilty, they look at the report the police made, they make a decision. You pay or you go to jail. It's literally as simple as that.
I can find no mention of insurance probation. Although I think you could be using the wrong term. Deferred sentencing IS something that is a possibility in a case like this.
As far as I'm aware, and I'm sorry to say I have a lot of experience in the criminal justice system, probation is probation. It does not have special branches. You may have special terms, but criminal probation is all there is. I would have paid thousands to avoid probation. They get you by the balls and they will squeeze and try to fuck you over. I'm guessing since you're posting on this site you are not a model citizen, and being one is the only way to survive probation. The only reason probation is better than jail is because at least you get to sleep in a real bed and eat real food. From a monetary standpoint, there is literally 0 reasons that it would be preferable in your situation.
