ticket for suspended license
    #21254241 -

Got a ticket for a suspended license, but license was only suspended a couple weeks. It's valid Now. Court reset me to talk to the DA.  Anyone have any experience with this?  What's gonna happen. Hoping to get probation or get it dismissed.

Umm,  no! The tickets 500$. If I can get probation and get it dismissed, I could use that 500$ to keep my license unsuspended and pay the probation fee.  Way cheaper

Probation is a shitty thing to be on. I can't believe someone would rather be on probation than pay 500 dollars. The only thing probation is better than, is jail.

 you guys are obviously confusing this with criminal probation. Its not the same. Im currently on insurance probation. Just need to maintain insurance for 6 months and my no insurance ticket will be dismissed after a smaller fee.

Have never before, at any point in my life, heard of insurance probation. Have also never heard of a DA presiding over traffic court. Traffic court, to my knowledge, has always been a very straight forward thing with no reason for a DA to get involved and decide whether to press charges or not. Either you're in the wrong or the right and the judge decides. It's very rudimentary, but it could be a geographical thing.

Well I'm in Texas and I've had to go to the DA for traffic tickets before to discuss options about getting tickets dismissed. This is actually the 2nd time I've been on Insurance probation. I'm expecting something similar to happen with the suspended license ticket. Supposedly the DA is the only person with the power to bargain and do probation rather than pay that expensive ass ticket and stuff. And no, you don't have to go in front of the judge. There is another court in another county nearby where you do see the judge for traffic tickets. Texas is weird like that

Well that's strange because I'm in Texas as well. I have never heard of any of this shit before and I've had my share of traffic bullshit. I was actually in a wreck as an unlicensed and uninsured driver and nothing ever involved a DA. Traffic court is very straight forward. Officer writes up report, gives you a court date, you go to a judge, you plead guilty or not guilty, they look at the report the police made, they make a decision. You pay or you go to jail. It's literally as simple as that.

I can find no mention of insurance probation. Although I think you could be using the wrong term. Deferred sentencing IS something that is a possibility in a case like this.

As far as I'm aware, and I'm sorry to say I have a lot of experience in the criminal justice system, probation is probation. It does not have special branches. You may have special terms, but criminal probation is all there is. I would have paid thousands to avoid probation. They get you by the balls and they will squeeze and try to fuck you over. I'm guessing since you're posting on this site you are not a model citizen, and being one is the only way to survive probation. The only reason probation is better than jail is because at least you get to sleep in a real bed and eat real food. From a monetary standpoint, there is literally 0 reasons that it would be preferable in your situation.

im in Harris.. my list of tickets go on and on over the surrounding counties around Houston (at least 3 of them). The traffic ticket courts in Harris, you talk to the county clerk and the DA comes once or twice a week to work deals with people. The county clerk called it insurance probation, but yeah maybe some sort of Deferred sentencing. But the agreement was to maintain my insurance for 6 months and the tickets would be dismissed for a smaller fee.  Im hoping to get something similar in my license case. Not sure how it works in other parts of the state. Havent  had the pleasure
