You could also use a scalpel or an exacto blade or the tip of a kitchen knife or a double-edged razor blade or a single-edged razor blade or a glass shard or a piece of broken obsidian or chert or flint. Really you have a lot of options that aren't taking clones with a needle. :lol:

I like needles for agar, for taking tissue they suck because you pierce trough potentially contaminated surface. It's better to just break the stem and cut out tissue from inside.
