Everything is a waste if you look at it like that. Working a job that you don't want to get a product or end result that you do want is a very good thing to get used to.

If you're living at home then you should at least have a job (or start looking for one). You have plenty of free-time which gives you more freedom to choose one that you don't completely hate.

i'd have to go to school for a job i don't inherently hate, which is a waste of my time and money, my albeit non-existent money.

PS: welcome to the party, mantis. i thought you didn't judge. but you do.

I'd hate to agree with the judgmental presumptuous arguments... but you sound like you're contradicting yourself here.

If you don't work and you don't go to school then what exactly do you do? I mean your parents must be loaded for you to be happy... to have something to do. It's a serious question. Because I know when I didn't work and I didn't go to school I wanted to kill myself. I don't know many unemployed people that are happy with life, personally.

I genuinely want to know what you do with your free time that makes you contented with life.

No one should automatically assume you are a huge burden on your parents though. Alot of aging folks find they have a harder time doing chores and what not, I'm sure they appreciate your help there... but I'm sure they don't want you to sit in their house and rot either. They'd want you to be making your own life, while living there or somewhere else. So what's the what akira?

yeah, i'll have money to get by on, if i suddenly lose my propositions here.

Don't you want to like, do fun things?

Go on vacations. Go to concerts, go rock climbing, go hiking, travel, experience what life has to offer?

you're really content with just sitting on the internet doing nothing all day with no aspiration to make any better of life?

You'd be fine, until that money is gone. Then you're stuck with a resume with a 10 year gap in it and no credentials.

You have a messy ass house, shit is broken because you never want to fix it because "it's a waste of time", etc.

I edited my previous post but I'll add it here too. Women can leave a guy if they aren't being taken care of and find a guy that will. Bad news man. Not many women are going to take care of you like mommy.

C'mon man. You know you're wrong. Wake up and smell the dogshit covered roses.

you're basically a freeloader? why? my mother is incompetent when it comes to this kind of thing. i tell her to not buy so much groceries, and to make food that she doesn't plan on keeping for days in refrigerator. even when i'm away, i still come home and see food stocked, days worth, in the fridge. i am not freeloading. if she'd listen to me, they'd save on grocery bills; but i don't need to be here for them to figure that out. because they'll do it either way.

and i don't aspire to work for anyone. the world is sludge when it comes to tradition. working is done in the soul, not on some convenient line-up.

first of all, yes, you're right, but then again, i don't see how anyone is really appreciative of their life all the time. i am sometimes, and not others. things are always crappy though. not for me, in particular, but in general, things always suck. but just make due. and i make due with learning. yeah, i'm a filthy Platonist.

even worse, i'm a cynic. i'm as dirty as they come.

but that doesn't change anything.

and neither would "having a job". now having a purposeful job, SURE, that's different. but i screwed myself outta that ages ago. i didn't really do the school thing well. i did well on tests when i was around, though. and homework was never really my thing, either.

but yes, having a job of course makes people feel better. it gives their life meaning, albeit a scrounge for meaning. if you've got a job that fulfills you, hey, then awesome for you. :super:

Everything may seem fine and dandy now, but I think if push came to shove and you had to get out of your parents house you'd really wish you had some money to fall back on. I've almost been homeless a couple of times, thankfully I've always been lucky to have friends or family to fall back on when times were really tough (was working full time throughout all this but lost my place of residence twice) and it scared the shit out of me. The world is tough and cold. If you don't look out for YOURSELF then you could be in for a hell of a time. This is just simple advice, take it or leave it. Not even sure why I'm compelled to even type this out but yeah.

all of those things aren't important to me. shit is broken? in my apartment, and the super won't do shit about it? not my problem. it's bad enough i have to pay insurance for a junky shithole, but that's life.

and i can work better than joe shmoe, but he'll get the job because of a "gap" in my working? um, ok, if they want a shittier worker, that's their concern.

and women? can't live with 'em, can't live without 'em. i'm sure if i had a woman in my life who could put up with my bullshit, i'd be sure to not be having this conversation. but women aren't everything.

I lived most of the year in a dorm through high school but went home for the summer and Christmas.  Then I lived most of the year in a dorm or off campus housing for college.  First two years I went home but after that I stayed and worked in Buffalo.  After college I took off for the world, never to return except for visits.  I couldn't wait to get on my own.  I do not get adult children living at home.  Get out and live your life.  Be responsible for yourself.  Failure to launch is not a positive life affirming doctrine.

i have plenty of nature around me, and i am working on getting the most out of life thing. we all have our ways. but those joyful pursuits you're so intangibly persistent about, they are all run amok, they're impermanent fixations. they're fun sure, while they last. i'm looking for lasting meaning. not manufactured meaning. if i wanted a trip to Costa Rica, i could go. or to a show... or to a festival or a resort, or out drinking and al lthe "fun stuff". i just choose not too. because it's not interesting to me. and it's always been that way. sorry if that messes with your world view.

So you don't ever want a house?

How do you/they know you can work at all?

Women aren't everything, but don't you want one? I don't want one now, doesn't mean I want to be alone in the future though. I like having someone to share my emotions with. To play with. To fuck. To walk with. To even watch a movie with.

Whatever man, it's your life.

life is a positive. why treat it like it's poison? nice valuation. but life isn't in launch procedures. it's already in the air. if i make a choice, it's not really anything, unless if something happens. so far, i've got all i need. i am trying to make a life, like anyone else, but i don't do it the way a bunch of people do it, so i'm being told that i need to do something. i don't.

it must really mess with people.

You might be in a good position to start your own business, if you don't particularly like working for other people.

That kind of thing usually takes up some amount of space, and you might need to get a part time job to pay for your startup costs and stuff.

thank you for some actual practical advise. very nice, for a change.

but everything is already being done. and i'm not an inventor. i don't really feel like making soap or anything of the sort. what is a good projection on the market that isn't being bought out in ten years?

maybe i should play the stock market game, but then again, i don't like the stock market. making money out of stocks is too stressful.

seems i don't like money. a means to an end; pfft, it's sorta a cop out.

Akira you could look in to auctioning domains or drop shipping. i have a friend who literally just collects welfare to avoid taxes and constantly runs drop shipping. He gave his whole family led tvs and alienware laptops for christmas. And he's got a lot of brothers and sisters.
