Can I cold shock in the freezer?
    #2076885 - 11/06/03 11:56 AM (20 years, 5 months ago)

My mycobags should have already fruited it's been over two months now. Would the freezer work as a cold shock? Or should I place in fridge which I really dont want to do.

The freezer is very bad. The fridge is o.k.

Are they fully colonized? What are the temps? Light?

They are fully colonized have been for about a week or two. They have light. The temps for all growth wasn't optimal, lately we have had the most unusual hi temps I've ever seen! Room temp is what they are kept at. I have a poor man set up as of right now.

Probably just the high temps. As long as it's 85 F (29C) or below you should be ok, but it could take a while. Even 2 weeks isn't much time for a bag to fruit in vitro (in the bag.) Cold-shocking could help, but get those fuckers down to 75 if you can.

Why take them out of the bag? You can still fruit inside the bag. If you took it out of the bag you need to stick it into a terrarium with lots of moisture.

take them out of the bags, fan the terrarium 2-3 times a day, and make sure it's colder than 80 and warmer than 65 and they'll be pinnin' shortly.
