I may have a casing that may not pin and it has been suggested i cold shock it b4 i fruit it in the terrarium. Heres waht i was gonna do but if it shouldnt be done plz tell me and suggest a better alternative. I don wanna put it in the fridge for a couplle hours to cold shock for fear of bacteria and odours from other foods (even though i will have the lid on) so waht i was gonna do was take a container bigger than the casing container (which is a round rubbermaid) and put the casing in the middle, then fill it wit ice cubes til it reaches 3/4 up the casing container. Will that be cold enuff? I figure once it melts and til the water gets warmer that should cold shock it enuff, then pin that dammm thing. Or should i fukk that and jus stick it in there wit the steaks, eggz, beer , milk , film and underwear?
Orrr, waht about the freezer for jus a lil bit of time...obviously not to the point where the top casing freezes like a brick of ice but say 30 mins or so???
Thx

I say just stick in the refridgerator with the lid on. If the lid is on pretty good nothing really should get in or you could even wrap it in foil or syran wrap over the lid just in case. Have long have you waited since you birthed the casing? One time I didnt see any signs of pins forming untill like 7 or 8 days. It should start pinning eventually if the right conditions are right, at least I think.

its been almost 2 weeks adn I was hoping by that time it would be mostly covered and I hope the stall isnt a sign that i will not get pins when i initite fruiting! I already have saran as a lid, so i may put the plastc lid as added protection. So you would not recommend putting it in the freezer for a short while? Cus doesnt bacteria die in those cold temperatures as oppose to fridge conditions? How long would u recommend sticking it in the fridge.....would too long hurt it?

p. cubensis doesnt need to be cold shocked to pin. if the casing layer has mycelium poking through, patch up those spots and put it in the terrarium. It will fruit fine without being cold shocked
