You can make predictions and test for evolution:

We know that whales are mammals...That they have hind legs in their skeletons...they have lungs (not gills)...they're hairy...they have mammary glands and give birth to live young (as opposed to eggs), they nurse their young (as opposed to fish - once fish give birth - the baby fish are on their own).

We know whales evolved from land mammals (a mammal that lived on dry land went into the water). So we should expect to find a fossil of a land mammal transitioning into water. Well, not only do scientists find that, they discover a host of transitional fossils, and all the ages of the fossils match up perfectly.



There are countless other examples. We know that all amphibeans evolved from fish. We should find a fish transitioning into an amphibean, a fish with legs. Well, we find exactly that, a fish with legs, dating to 375 million years ago:


You will not find a single mammal or amphibean or reptile fossil that dates before this time as they hadn't yet evolved.

You can trace the lineage of horses back, they actually used to be very tiny:


You can look at the same species before a land mass separates (so take something on Pangea before the continent breaks up into Africa-S. America-Australia-etc.). And you would expect that they will evolve into different species.

Behold:

Australia has the Emu:


And then there is the Ostrich native to Africa:


The list goes on and on. Everything matches up perfectly, and not a single fossil has been able to "debunk evolution" (for example you don't find a 300 million year old dog).

And finally, yes us, humans, we evolved to, from earlier primates.





Read "On the Origin of Species". Charles Darwin laid out 1000s of examples (not kidding - he literally lists thousands of examples of evolution) back in the 1850s!

This is before genetics. Now we can study the genomes of animals and see what they look like.

Humans have 46 chromosomes (23 from mom and 23 from dad). But all the Great Apes have 48 chromosomes (24 pairs). Since we and the Great Apes all descended from a common ancestor scientists should be able to figure out what happened to our 2 missing chromosomes.

Well - what happened is 2 pairs fused into 1.

There are 10s of thousands of examples of evolution. It was actually proven back in the mid 1800s. Like while there was still slavery and before Lincoln was assassinated. Only religious and ignorant people say "evolution is just a theory".
