I got bit because a visiting photographer for vice magazine asked me to pose with the snake.
I was stoned and should have thought better, but I learned my lesson; and I'm glad I got bit.

"Force feeding"?
Do you notice how the snake already knows it is about to receive food?
Yes, I learned to not push the food into the snakes mouth, just let it take it's meal.

You guys are being sensational fucks.

I hope I get bit again, hundreds of times, and all you guys can bitch about it.

Also, some herpetologists would say I'm even spoiling this snake.

A lot of professional snake handlers will keep a large group of vipers in a big plastic tub with no real amenities.

Nothing about your hobby seems cruel or inhumane to me, most people just haven't the slightest
clue of what keeping venomous snakes entails. I could agree the pushing of the pinkie was a bit forceful.

But yeah, a lot of snake people keep snakes in dark boxes or pull out plastic drawers.

And on another note, immunizing oneself to snake venom has been practiced for a while.
It's not unheard of, it's just one of those taboo topics. Like suspension, or bun heads.

More power to you man.

I have handled a few hots but don't keep them.  Agkistrodon piscivorus and crotalus atrox.  Just keep a couple non venomous reptiles right now.  If I had the room I'd keep more and do some breading projects.  Got to work with a lot of species a while ago.  Was a lot of fun and work...  One of the noobs thought it was ok to put a couple king snakes in the same display.  I came over to see whats going on and had to pull the looser out of the others throat.  It survived btw.  I helped with the care of a couple  Spectacled cobras.  Those things are really smart and sneaky.  They advance at us.  Then retreat to cover then try to use it to get closer for a sneak attack.  A tennis racket makes a nice defense.  I don't want to keep any venomous or venomoids personally.  I rather get my heart going other ways.  Like with alligators and constrictors. Or how about some cuban crocs?  Just kidding..  I'm happy handling my balls

I'd love to keep some other reptiles as well, but I figured I would start with just one first before taking on more.

I'm also really trying to stick with natives, because I want a better understanding of the wildlife that I'm constantly working around in my job.

The only non-venomous snake I have my eyes set on is a green diamond back watersnake.
Those guys are beauts compared to most non-hots.

Thanks for the support man!

My lymph node that took the majority of the venom is still a tad bit tinder.
I think I'll only practice envenomation once a month to give my body time to bounce back.

I'm also wondering what are the best places to inject venom?

I did it on my right arm this last time, so I was thinking of doing my left arm to balance out, and then doing my thighs; but it almost sounds like it doesn't matter, as long as it's not on the smaller parts of your limbs.

There's gotta be a rule against asking for dosing advice for snake venom in the pub. :strokebeard:

Ha, yeah.

I don't even feel comfortable with guessing.

But i'd steer clear of fingers toes and vital organs.

I watched a documentary recently about a guy injecting
venom. Can't recall where he was sticking it. I'm sure
you could find all kinds of info online. Which i'm sure
you have, ...at least I hope..

Nah, I'm just winging it

But no, don't worry; I've been doing a bit of reading into it for the past couple of weeks now.

I know larger meatier areas are the safest because they can handle the inflammation compared to places like digits.
So I think my thighs would be best.

Did he scam your family out of a life savings, or what?
What happened to cause such anguish?

Elapids, pits, boids, colubrids..

Its more of a specific species, as opposed to a group, that I havnt kept at one point or another.

If I havnt kept shit though, what Ive said up to this point, stands .... if you study and just look it up.

I can look into that snakes eyes and see its pain..

Fuck rags cant get that.  See reptiles usually dont make sounds....they lack facial expressions, like you find with primates.  So its a rare few who can connect with a "reptile"......its just the way it is...

I guarantee if you were cater's unfortunate copper, you would agree with me......you really, at the end of the day would have to be a souless fuckrag to dissagree.... or just not understand ...

Fuck it....youre an ape, lets say I handle your neck and put you in a fucking 4x4 box.......every other day dry slam your throat with whatever I fed you......  dickhead should feed him rat pups, but its beyond me...

Fuck your freedom.....i dry slam you dirt... you live in shit...  and this faggot feeds his ego on the interner....  where do you think my anger comes from?....

Should I put it in terms of drugs so you can understand?

Well, I didn't really notice any points, just badmouthing. But, at the time, I wasn't sure if you knew what you were talking about. It seems you do.
