my free will theory
    #2064405 -

just an idea...

Suppose that all things already and always exist: past, present and future.

My theory is that future events have a "magnetic" like attraction. They influence the human will. They cause the will to bring the pre-existent future events into being in the present moment.

On the surface if the will is compelled by future events then there is no free will. However, the future events that compel the will are themselves the creation of the will. There is no cause but the will, hence free will.

Imagine causality running in opposite directions. The ordinary kind going forward and also the future having a backwards causation on the past. In the present moment they collide and annul each other leaving the will forever outside causation.

Is there a difference between free will and having what you do with your free will influenced by the future or the past?
Peace.

Perhaps free will is a magnetic force, changing the directions of the electrons and chemicals that supposedly explain away free will in determinism.

Hehe, a new age version of John Calvin religious ideas.
Anyway, your assumption is not "less true" than the others.

but...
Why do you think that this theory might be true?
