Parks?
    #2053941 - 10/29/03 04:45 PM (13 years, 1 month ago)

I was just wondering if maybe city parks that are maintained fairly well for the most part would be a poor place to look when hunting? Would maybe something more off the beaten path have better results?

I was thinking of trying to go downtown today and look around at the parks and the landscaping of some buildings, but I was thinking if it rained pretty good today maybe tomorrow would be better. Does the ground indeed have to be wet or damp for them to grow, or is temp just as important. Some places are pretty wet, while others like under trees and places tend to be more dry?

Should I wait for a harder rainfall before I look? :nut:

I'm wondering the same thing. We live in the same city, and thus are probably thinking of the same parks, too.

well it sounds like the PNW. so check out any areas with older mulch. it doesnt matter if its off the beaten path or not if other hunters know about it. just go where theres good mulch, good fertilizing and good water (whether natural or sprinklers)

good luck!

Thank yas, yea wiener we are talking about the same city heh. I actually went to Alberta Park since it is like only about 12 blocks from my house, but it seems too well kept and across from a school (which I would imagine would eliminate any possible activity there, besides some crazy puffy, hollow, "you press and they shoot out spore" thingys.

I picked shrooms in downtown Settle for five years in the 1970s and i will say there are still a few which pop up aroound the area in some years.

mj

Portland would be more like Wash9ington Park, Laurelhurst park, etc. Condos in the suburbs, new restaurants , park and rides etc. You just have to walk and walk and walk until you come ross some.

Yes! As soon as the sun breaks next week I'm going to one of the two parks you mentioned. I've been thinking about it ever since I got interested in hunting...

And caolite, I think that because a park is next to a school doesn't mea that. Grant park, for example, has a few spots where mushrooms would thrive. I found some odd ones today...I was just passing through so I didn't pick it, but the stems had what loked like a section peeling off, and yellow caps with dark yellow specks. Maybe 3-4cm in diameter. About 5-6 tall.

Well, since it doesn't really deserve a thread of its own:

Will below freezing temperatures this weekend affect fruiting of cyans?
