With all the bumps in the road you wouldn't be able to use a turntable in a car without it skipping.

They've had specially designed record players for decades that counteract that effect to an at least decent degree

they saved me a couple times in the past when i couldnt boot up from the cd drive. i think they still have a lot of use if you know how to use them.

Floppies were fun when they were around, but now things like flash drives and exterior hard drives are WAY better.

It's kind of a hassle to have shit hanging out of the computer though.

USB drives are usable and bootable in pretty much any computer and can be very fast, but they're not internal.
Optical drives are internal, still somewhat standard equipment in a computer and you can generally always boot from them, but rewriting requires special media that nobody bothers with.
Internal flash card readers are fairly widespread and the SD standard has more or less won out for compatibility with consumer hardware, but the ability to boot from them isn't standard.
