I figure people want to stand their ground as being  the alpha male and i guess they show who's dominant by giving a firm handshake. My father admits I shake hands like a girl but that's because I always hated how he would squeeze the life out of my hand & I figured other people didnt like it as well.
I've met many people who squeeze hands with an ever so firmly grip that  it reminds me of them trying to keep my hand as a souvioneer.
I understand its ideal to make a good first impression but I think judging a person based on how tightly they want to hold another persons hand is sinking the ship,

Alpha-complex and or nervousness, it's the same when one touch my shoulder and lead the way 'good boy'-style. A firm handshake is preferred.

A bit like my previous post directed towards you and OC.

I was wondering whether to post here or not, not posting would look more sexy and carefree.

Like, there is a difference between a firm and inviting touch and a vice-death grip. I also hate limp fish handshakes, I mostly get them from women, though.

I always thought my handshakes were perfectly normal because pressure would be applied without being extremely tough. Although It doesn't appear like im holding and shaking the hand either.
Generally it's my anxiety which makes me think I don't need to give a tough handshake because I didn't think it matters unless it was in the business world

Interesting topic, i've always been left thinking after this happens. Like wtf dude

I like a firm handshake, but some people seem like they're trying to prove something
the second they introduce themselves. Alpha-complex 100%.

Especially shaking the hand of a girl?  :dudewtf:

I can understand a guy trying to intimidate another guy by giving an unnecessary powerful squeeze during the latter part of the handshake, but one is supposed to lightly shake a girl's hand and then go in for the hug for maximum care points.  :smug:

Well being a man with a firm handshake I can say my father always taught me that was the correct way to do it.  I'm not talking about "killing" it; I'm talking a good firm handshake.  He always said "You can tell alot about a man from how he shakes hands." :shrug: 

Some of you just need to grow thicker skin or something.

Having lived in France for a couple years, they do it a bit... differently there.  Not to say that they're all homosexual :lol:, but everytime you try to shake a Frenchman's hand the way an American does it (firm, strong, the manly man's handshake), they just sort of limply swipe their hand along yours and let it fall.

Cultural differences are quite fascinating.
