I feel like some people who are against bringing the infected doctor to Atlanta's CDC might not really have a clue on epidemiolgy. I am not an Epidemiologist but I do work in health care and I see some very misunderstanding on how stuff is spread.

For example, there is a difference between direct contact, droplet, and airborne spreading. Ebola has not been documented as airborne as far as I know which is the worse.

People also seem to not realize the significance in treatment of people with Ebola in Africa vs The USA. You would have a better chance of dying from Ebola over there, then here by far.

I would definitely say that the people against bringing the Ebola virus infected people into a superior isolation lab are very limited in the knowledge on the topic compared to the people who aren't against it.

It almost reminds me of talking to people who have a strong opinion against the scientific theory of evolution, but don't even know what a scientific theory is or Evolution.

That being said, if there is a .0000001% chance of it spreading like wildfire and killing tons of Americans... Then fuck that shit. Should have flown people over there earlier and set up something with much higher standards then what they have currently. Leave it to this country to not only bomb the shit out of people but to also try and save a bunch of people. Fuck.

Well, the chances are better than 0% - which is what it would've been if it had remained across the Ocean. I'd want the best help too - but if it meant risking my 1 life or 300 million lives, I'd give mine up.

Honestly, the chances of somebody walking onto a random plane with the disease and showing up here is probably far greater than the chances of the virus breaking loose from a CDC plane and containment center.

If there are stone cold safeguards how did these doctors get it.  And why is it necessary to ship them here at all?

Uuuhhh. The doctors got it because they're in prolonged direct contact with lots of ebola patients in a 3rd world country through a missionary program (i.e. not the CDC). The point was this: if you're not worried about its spread through conventional airports, then there's no need to worry about it's spread by means of a CDC plane that's specialized for the transport of such diseases.

I don't know what the motivation was for shipping them here. Maybe they wanted to test out their fancy containment site or something. Unless they're going to blend these people up and put them in the water supply, I'm not really worried about it. It should be well within their ability to contain.

The reason it is getting out of control is due to the fact that people in that region think Ebola is just a conspiracy by the government to get more aid money from the west. People are not avoiding sick individuals.

Of course corpses are contagious. Those people died of their symptoms, which is when the disease is contagious.

Don't get me wrong, Ebola is really bad, but it is not the type of disease that will run rampant in a western country.

I know I am nit picking here but it is not risking 300 million lives but i realize your exaggeration.  I am just pointing out that other people are blowing this up to insane proportions.

So true. Everyone is so concerned about this patient who is in quarantine with probably the best medical help you can get and fail to realize what they should probably be more concerned about, people coming back who might have it.

I see your point but it is kind of all about that. We are in general worried about Ebola becoming a mass epidemic. Again, like my above statement, we are so worried about this isolated patient who is in the best of treatment that we fail to keep our eyes on other people who are flying into this country from the effected countries.

You apparently do not understand the entire difference in African related healthcare and prevention of sickness versus the USA. I am sure you know your fair share and am not discrediting you at all. How did they get it? Refer to my upper post also... The difference in systems of healthcare in the USA and Africa really need to be understood by people. The doctor probably got it by less skilled healthcare workers, faulty precautions and equipment due to lack of money, fail plans of prevention by lack of money, the local populace not understanding what or how a virus works, lack of protocols. Pick any one of those and you will know how the doctor got it.

Not to mention these doctors are probably in rooms with dozens of people who are bleeding out from the eye balls, ears, mouths, fingernails, noses, nipples, dicks, vaginas, asses and probably dozens of other areas.
