The Cat And The Mouse And Me

My male cat, known as "Cutie" (watch War of the Roses), is also known to bring in live prey of all kinds at pretty much any time.  Keeps me on my toes, and catching lizards and flying birds is always a challenge.

Fast forward to a couple days ago.  I had my chance, it was early, I was a little hung over, didn't see the mouse at first.  Kind of underestimated it and even laughed at how small it is.  Well it got by my defenses, my cat was counting on my goal keeping and I blew it.

Yesterday Cutie hangs out waiting for the mouse in the living room.  I set up a trap, no, this mouse didn't want peanut butter.

This morning Cutie goes to take a piss, and once again, the mouse got by me.  Disappeared into the bedroom. 

Cutie comes back in, and waits in the living room where the mouse should be.  I try to convince him the mouse is now in the bedroom to no avail.

Mouse finally makes a move in the bedroom, Cutie grabs him and has him in mouth.  I make an attempt to toss both cat and mouse out of house through pet door.  Thought it was a done deal but Cutie dropped mouse in the process in the house and in the confusion lost track of mouse.

The hunt continues.

You cock blocked your cat man!

Next time let him seal the deal before you try and clean up.

Also make sure your trap is out of reach from your cat, he might really hurt himself if it's a traditional style trap. I recommend the hockey puck style traps, they're expensive but pet-safe.
