Mouse Problem...

Ok, so I have a mouse problem.
Theyve been around for a few months now. At first there were alot of them but we managed to take care of the problem using sticky pads. For a while there were no signs of the little suckers. They were finaly gone. Or so we thought. About 2 weeks ago I hear mischeviousness going on... u kno the sound. So it turns out they came back... must be the new generation and the mother probably survived to feed them enough to grow again. So it turns out the sticky pads didnt quite do the trick. One thing I dont understand is that the stickies worked for a while, but it got to a point where all we would catch was mouse shit. There would be mouse shit on the stickies and no fuckin mice!!! wtf??
So we bought this purple-pink poison that they eat and is supposed to kill them. The problem is that we have found no dead mice, and not only that, the poison is scattered everywhere from them eating it, and theres mouse shit everywhere. And guess what!! Now we're seeing droplets of mouse shit that are the same colour as the poison!!!!!!
AHHH!!!! So they ahev managed to eat the stuff and shit it out and we have not found 1 fuckin dead mouse!!!
It's really bugging us... so what should we do? What is your advice on a sound way of getting rid of the little buggers?
An exterminater is very expensive, and all they do is put some poison in some little black houses for the mice, but we have done this before and they did leave for a while. Maybe a cat?

A cat's the way to go. I'd recommend one even if you didn't have a mouse problem. Be sure to get rid of any poison and dead mice before bringing one into your home.

Set cheap traps and if you are living in a house walk around the outside and find all the holes in the wall that they are coming through. Cement holes in. Around a/c unit lines running into the wall is a common area. House settles and the motar mix breaks and provides opening for them.

Or, you could just get traps and release them in an open space far from your home.

My guess is the mouse problem took its toll on OP and wore him down until he gave in and offed himself, as he eventually stopped posting completely a year and 3 months ago.
RIP OP, he shall never be forgotten

The poison exterminators use when they mean business is Brodifacoum 0.005% preferably pelletized. Even if they just take a nibble to test taste it, it may take a few days but it kills them.
Its whats used in grain storage places all over the world.

Use the standard traps and not the poison. With the poison they'll end up dying and rotting out of sight and stink the place up.

I totally agree.
I have two cats, and we had mice in the walls. Well, the cats heard them, camped out near the water heater (the opening where the mice were hanging out) and those cats hunted those two bastards.
No more mice
Cats are excellent mouse hunters. Its what they do.

Get some spray foam and seal anywhere that they can gain entry to your house from the outside including the craw space door if you have one. I haven't seen a mouse in years since I sealed my house.

The mice are coming in from somewhere, you need to find out where, and fill the holes. If you want some bodies make a bucket mouse trap, you can see a tutorial of youtube.
