So much of the flick is focused on some whiney military deush, and so little focus is placed on Godzilla that they should have called the movie "Military deush"

Oh also, earth to Hollywood, no one wants to root for the military anymore, they don't make very realistic protagonists. Makes the whole movie feel like one of those exploitative army commercials aimed at minorities.

If you want a REAL Monster movie, I recommend 'The Host'
It's an awesome Korean Film.

I agree, but there are right and wrong ways of doing these things. Look at independence day with Will Smith, a movie about a global catastrophe. Part of the film focusses on Washington D.C. and the politics at hand, part focuses on the Nevada desert where the air force wages war against the aliens, giving us the military perspective, then part of the film focuses on NYC and the civilian response, people with signs inviting the aliens to join humanity. Each of these locations is expanded upon, you know the characters there and although they are all spread out, you feel a connection.

Modern movies keep failing at this, It feels like they think adding a location gives the movie inherently more value, but it just confuses things and detracts/distracts from the interactions between characters. I think X-men first class, and the first transformers film are good examples of this.

PACIFIC RIM:

I thought the parts that weren't for kids were awesome
and gave dignity to the Giant Monster movie.
Some of it was illogical
but I mean we're here to see building size assholes
fuck each other up

The parts that WERE obviously more for the younger crowd
(basically any part with Charlie Day)
Really hampered this movie from being great to me.

It was a schizo film.

I dunno I couldn't make sense of transformers when I saw it, the pirates of the Caribbean movies either

with pacific rim it's cool because of all the city shots and the giant robots, you need to see it in the movies

i'll def see the next hobbit at the movies

I rated it a 6.5/10 which is pretty high on my scale for an action movie. It seems like michael bay has to include a scene in every transformers movie where the main characters fall from a rediculous height in a spaceship and the spaceship explodes and the main characters walk out of the rubble unscratched.
I felt like the movie was lacking one thing: a sex scene
I mean the daughter was just beyond hot :whatever:
