I have taught more than a few.  None could learn everything,  Framing carpentry is math intensive.  I have a sneaking suspicion that Patlal might have a sufficient facility for the math.


If you're willing to teach me, I'd happily drive to NY and work for free lol. The thing is, even for free, I have a feeling I would still cost you money due to slowness and errors.

I'm an intellectual, not a manual guy. Its definitely gonna be a challenge for me.

After reading thousands of my posts what makes you think you are more of an intellectual than I am?

Framing is an intellectual challenge.  There is a good bit of back involved, though, but I think I could whip you into shape.  I quiver at the thought of the lash for you

My brother went for a pre apprenticeship for electrician at sheridan, he said the course taught him shit all compared to what you learn when you actually get an apprenticeship. All it was good for was showing you're serious, which can help get your foot in the door and land an apprenticeship, and maybe networking and you can meet/find someone who will take you as an apprentice after you're done. A lot of it is learning building codes he says for those types of trades, and he says you learn a lot of that in apprenticeship training.

I found I learned an awful lot in my mechanics pre-apprenticeship though, so I guess it's different for different schools & trades. Why not, if you're serious? get a grant for your tools cost too when you actually do find an apprenticeship.
