I'm seriously considering taking a carpentry class...

My step dad could show me, but he has 0 patience to teach. I could go work for a contractor but I have 0 experience that is worth mentioning. Therefore, I'm pretty much stuck with going to school to learn the trade...

I think of it as making my own Legos. I fucking love legos...

The plan is to help my parents with their real estate investments/flips/management etc.

3 session program. It'll cost me max 10000$ but that includes the price of my tools.

Apparenty yopu can't just pick up a hammer and build stuff anymore. Building codes, laws, licenses etc are needed... So might as well start with school...

What say you?

I worked briefly as a carpenter's apprentice.

Classes can be kind of interesting.

I say go for it, it's knowledge worth learning even if you don't stick with it in any serious capacity.

Its definitely gonna be a challenge for me.

I pity the student that will be paired with me on projects...

Not yet. 

I have taught more than a few.  None could learn everything,  Framing carpentry is math intensive.  I have a sneaking suspicion that Patlal might have a sufficient facility for the math.

I think everyone (man/woman) should learn to do something do with their hands. Like making/creating something with their own two hands. Not like a website or anything digital. Thats cool and everything but nothing is more satisfying to see something created with your hands.

I think this is a dope idea.

wow 10k is alot of dough for carpentry classes..

just come to california and work for free with some of the dudes that stand by home depot. you'll learn it quick like and it'll cost you literally nothing.

i'd take that money and get flying lessons instead. but hey, that's just me.

That was always a huge part of the appeal for me.  At the end of the day there was something I could say I made.
