Nutrients in the straws used to rehydrate cakes

I am using the dunk and roll method. After my cakes fruit a couple of times, I plan on drilling a hole into the cake to insert a straw into the core so that I can put water in the straw to keep the aging cake hydrated. Could I put some sort of nutrients/substrate (perhaps a brf/water mixture) into the straw to help keep it productive? Would it make a difference?

it would make a difference...in that it would probably cause contams.
uncolonised nutrients+humid environment = contams.
plus if you read the teks properly you will find that mycelium in the fruiting stage is no longer 'feeding' therefore your added nutrients would be useless.
