Can anyone suggest some good books that talk about the shows at the pyramids? Experiences, stuff leading up to the shows, the bands point of view, fans points of view and so on.

ChinaCat72, Ripple, or anyone have any first hand experiences? :sun:

McNalleys book talks about it a bit as does Blair Jacksons, but there is nothing that I know of that is devoted to just the Egypt trip.

I ve read most of that in Ncnalley's book, but was thinking maybe someone on the plan wrote a book that talked about it a little more.

I know in the biography "Garcia" by Blair Jackson it's talked about with fairly decent detail...I know Ripple already mentioned it, but it's just an amazing biography that if you don't already own you should definately buy. What'd you think of the book Ripple?

The Deadhead's Taping Compendium, Vol. II has a lengthy essay on the Dead family's trip to Egypt. The book costs around $25 on amazon. its really a comprehensive description of the many shows to be found on tape - handy if you're into bootlegs. plus there arelots of commentaries from people who were actually at the shows being reviewed.

I loved the book Hooty! I think Jackson does a great job of giving us an insight into what made Jerry the person he was. There is lots of detail about his childhood and his family life as a child growing up which is very in depth.
