Liberals want common sense gun laws, like background checks; they are not asking for gun prohibition (with the possible exception of a tiny number of extremists who don't matter).

I am in a minority on the shroomery, as I frequently defend the opposing side when they have a point about something or when my side make believes something about them.  I also attack my side if I think they're wrong.  People here get very confused by that and think it means I prefer the other side.

Please provide an example.  I suspect your view of liberals is what Fox tells you they are, not what they really are.

The government doesnt need to prohibit things, because prohibition doesnt work. Its something you can prove throughout short term history in the united states.

To falcon, expanded background checks only work when people abide by laws to get their weapons. Terrorists and cartel members are going to get the same weapons whether there are background checks or whether guns become downright illegal.

EDIT- Kid who went into sandy hook got the gun from his MOTHER. Also Several members of my family have cuban cigars and homemade moonshine. Both are prohibited by the government.

    Bullshit. It doesn't work for shit you can grow in your yard or cook in your kitchen .  But for complicated modern machine guns it works great . You know anyone who owns a modern automatic 20mm cannon ?  Nope, me neither , and that is because our govt prohibits their manufacture and sale to the general public , and more than an  overwhelming majority of people can't build it in their garage .
    It's a very simple fact that if we outlawed gun manufacturing in the us , there would be way less illegal guns. You just aren't going to manufacture a anything like a glock at home.
  If you can't pass a background check you can only get what the black market has to offer , your limited as a criminal,  where as I can go buy whatever I want , I can run up my 30g credit card ,  I have an advantage over the criminals and crazy fucks who can't pass. Why would you want to even the firepower playing field ?

Depend on the person: I´m a liberal AND I think guns should not be prohibited.
I don´t believe in lowering the standars to accommodate the morons.

But I do believe in backgrounds check.

"THEY SAY" back ground checks will leads to registration and other things. Besides "WE" have "OUR" 2nd amendment rights to own whatever the fuck "WE" want.

Yeah pretty much the entire Bill of Rights has been pissed on by SCOTUS, but we need to focus on having guns, then we'll worry about free speech, indefinite detention, warrantless wiretapping, and extrajudicial assassinations later.

It has in some cases, I'm mainly referring to the NSA revelations, where you become a target if your internet personality is far enough off the sidewalk.

Meh, that's been the case for many years, though.  Whether it's the NSA today, or the FBI under hoover, it's the same game.  I wouldn't say that the SCOTUS has been a part of the process.
