Liberal Academic Bias
    #2752874 - 06/01/04 01:45 PM (12 years, 6 months ago)

I know this is anectdotal, but I thought I'd share it anyway.

I was talking with my roommate about politics, and I was saying saying how sometimes political discussion seems futile when over half of people still believe we found WMDs in Iraq for instance.  He says "We did find WMDs".  I said "Uhh, no we did not, where did you hear that?" He told me that his Accounting teacher (what the fuck this has to do with accounting, i don't quite know) brought an article into class (from newsmax maybe?) saying that they found WMDs! Then my roommate paused for a moment and said "oh, but i guess he is really conservative".

:mad2:

Liberal academic bias is most prevalent in the liberal arts(must be why they call it that). Majors like accounting, business, and economics are more likely to have conservative professors.

one time I took this BS 'Social Communication' class, and the teacher talked exactly like that liberal teacher guy on Beavis and Butthead.

what was his name?  Mr VanDrieson?

Yeah, I know that. I just thought it was crazy for a guy to go so far out of his way to use his position to influence his class's politics when it had nothing at all to do with the course he was teaching. in the liberal arts, ive found they at least are working with the course material.

Possibly the sarin shell found in Iraq in May 2004?

Yeah, there were a whole TWO shells found with traces of sarin gas, god forbid! That's certainly worth going to war over...

I'm not going to do all your work for you and spoonfeed you.

Try doing a search on Google for "WMD".

SARIN SHELL 'NO BIG DEAL' May 18 2004

By Mark Ellis, Foreign Editor

A ROADSIDE bomb containing the nerve gas sarin exploded near a US military convoy in Iraq, US officials revealed yesterday.

But a weapons expert dismissed the find as "no big deal".

And a senior military source said the small amount of sarin in an artillery shell used in the device did not mean there were stockpiles.

He said the shell dated back to the Iran-Iraq war of 1980-88 and the rebels probably did not know what the looted round contained. It was designed to produce sarin in flight and release it on explosion. But experts say the amount from a roadside bomb would be very low."

The bomb was discovered in a bag near Baghdad airport a few days ago but went off before it could be defused. Two explosives experts were treated for minor exposure to sarin.

Chemical warfare expert Prof Alastair Hay, of Leeds University, said: "It's an old munition, not something that could be used as evidence Iraq had a massive programme of weapons of mass destruction. We know Iraq had these munitions, we knew many had been destroyed. It will be a straw that the US and UK governments may want to grab hold of, but it's too early to say it's of major significance."

Iraq made 800 tons of sarin, as well as binary weapons like the shell.

David Kay, former head of the Iraq Survey Group which searched fruitlessly for WMD after the war, said: "It doesn't strike me as a big deal."

i dont think schools cater to one political party but more to molding good children into drone slaves for the man. if you didnt go to school life would be much better and you wouldnt be as easy to control

"Traces"?

You can't be serious. The entire shell was filled with sarin. Three to four liters of it. If you call about a gallon of sarin "traces", what constitutes a significant amount to you?

A significant point to consider is that the shell was not marked in any way in order to differentiate it from a regular artillery shell. Now, it has been reported many times that some of the weapons dumps in Iraq which contain artileery shells are literally several square miles in area. Which dump did this shell come from?

Binary WMD artillery shells are like cockroaches -- there's never just one of them. Where are the rest?

Im no 'kid', and just beacuse you believe the war is based on lies dosent mean I do. Theres no conclusive facts that the war is based on lies, its all opinions for that topic.
