Home owner kills burglars who broke in - gets convicted of murder

No, i'm not joking, thats what happened in minnesota. 2 young punks broke into a man's house, got their just deserts and the homeowner is looking at life in prison. What kind of message does this send to potential burglars? The man was in fear for his life, it was 2 against one and he was an old man. What would you do, tell them to take what they want and hope they don't kill you?

This guy may be a little fucked up but no matter what he did to make it look like no one was home or whatever those teens got what they deserve for breaking into someone's house.

I am all for killing home invaders, but the particulers I heard made him seem quite deranged. I heard he shot the female once, and then toldher 'you're dying', before shooting her in the bottom of face. He then dragged her into another room to wait and kill the boy.

Mr special, how do you know this is a fact? Were there any witnesses who testified to what you claim you "heard"? Or was it bullshit from a prosecutor who hoodwinked a jury into going along with it playing on their sympathy for young criminals?

It seems this was not the first time they broke into people's homes and stole shit. Society is well rid of those two. The old guy should get a medal.

This isn't quite as you're portraying it though.  He shot one kid, and the kid was on the ground when he shot him again.  Then he shot the other kid who fell.  The guys gun jammed, he switched weapons, shot her a few more times, then dragged her next to the other guy and shot her in the chin.

At some point in there, he was no longer in reasonable fear for his life, yet he kept shooting.

It seems he did kind of execute them and confessed to it. His mouth is what put him in jail, isn't that usually the case? I don't agree with executing someone that way even though they were dirtbags and apparently professional burglars. So the story was not as simple as it appeared on the surface.

The world is better off without scum like that but he should have just kept shooting in fear of them pulling a weapon on him or something. Doing it slowly and deliberately is not right, i will say that. I bet some of his neighbors are glad they died though they will not say so publicly for fear of a media style lynching.

2 less dirtbags and one homeowner we have to pay room and board for the rest of his life. Seems like a ten year sentence with time off for good behavior would have been more appropriate. Its not like he went out and shot them on the street revenge style. He was wrong but they asked for it.

Your numbers are way off, son.  The average life expectancy for men in the U.S. is 76.  That gives him 11 years.  The average life expectance in prison is undoubtedly lower than that of the general population.

He will almost certainly be dead within 10 years.
