 Bulk-grow idea, may need work/help

Ok, Well, I've never grown any mushrooms before, but I have done loads of research over the past few years (and reading these boards has been extremely helpful) so I've come up with an idea
I've seen a lot of people use the Martha Stewart (60x64x19.5) portable closet setup and stack shelves on it of small batches, but to me I'd think it would be easier to lay it on it's back and get a little larger than 5x5 feet of crop space with about 20 inches of height
Fill the closet with medium (I hear straw gets you large mushrooms, but I guess you could use other things, like mushroom soil or whatever) say 6-7 inches, lay the spawn down (WBS, rice etc.)
Once the closet is on it's back you could hook up a cool air mist humidifier to it (possibly two, one for either side because it is such a large space), which would give it the air/moisture, it needs

sounds good to me.
might not even need the humidifiers, since this would be growing ala casing, most can get away with misting and letting the casing layer create the micro-climate.

How high will it be laying on it's back? (in cm, please)
If it's too shallow you're gonna get smaller shrooms.
Other than that it should work. Oh rather than putting the substrate onto the ground, why not use several cased pans of some sort. Thats easier to take them out before harvest and keep them in the dark before the prepinning stage.

if this is your first grow,why not just stick to the PF tek.
you have to learn to walk before you can run.

I didnt either. My point in casing directly was that I thought casing requires a less strict humidity level, and gives a higher overall yield. So I actually never saw the point in PF Tek.

I learned to case before the PF tek and I still think it's easier (less humidity requirements, like you said.) Cheap, too -- 1 bin, saran wrap, spraybottle. Oh, yeah -- better yeilds. Those big clear storage bins work great, too, as long as you can case them evenly. Don't know anything about Martha Stewart.

Oh, that closet? Should work fine -- you can case anything. Just make sure to fan + mist.

If you've researched like you said then give it a try, screw it. It sounds good. I've never attempted the pf tek. I learned to case and went with it. Common sense does wonders.

Jazz, it will have 19 and a half inches of height in the closet, which is enough to lay down say six inches of straw (probably what I'll use, or mushroom soil) and still givea little over a foot for the fruits
