Been searched once, said no to the search, made them get a warrent, and eventually went to jail.

I'm not trying to say let cops search you or your car, I sure as hell don't, but don't think if you say no to a search that it will be the end of it, thats not always the case. All I did was pull over next to some woods to take a piss, evedently in a bad drug/crack ridden area, and the cops said I was acting suspicious. When asked to search the car I said no hell no. He then called a judge, got him on the scene, got the warrent, searched and found an eight of bud in my trunk and I went to jail for 3 days.

It would be nice to have a straight answer about what the cops can and can't do. That is the real problem, they know - most people do not. Locally (Beaverton OR) they will routinely stop and ask for ID for virtually no reason other than you are walking at night. I THINK this is technically illegal. They will claim suspicious activity for reason to search too - though you are only walking.
It would be nice to hear from a lawyer what they can and can't do as far as searching your person, your car. I suppose it varies from state to state, country to country but that info would be excellent to have on a bulletin board!

my close calls have come from parks dept. people at discovery park in seattle. an unbelievable patch stretching into what I associate with more azurescens type habitat in the dune grass along the beach. also the best places in seattle are where they have done environmental restoration and there is a steep fine associated with tresspassing in these areas. I personally have never had any real cop encounters except in astoria with the sherrif who actually believed my lies and became one of my surfing homies in the aftermath. i never really worry about cops just assholes treating the patches with disrespect. at discoveery however they will call the cops on you and if the cops have to respond to a call they get a bit more agitated about the situation so I am told. Also since cop funding in king county was cut drastically by the bill tyhat lowered car tabs to 38 dollars there are very limited bicycle cop patrols in the local parks. Just watch out for those hippies in the bushes watching where you pick your mushies. I have been followed by these people on several ocasions from park to park. At my favorite patch from last year I bribed the homeless folks at the park with beer and some weed to harass people snooping in my favorite spots. kind of unfair I know but hey last year was a hard year and alls fair in love and cyan picking. the same folks also turned me on to 3 other parks with patches I had no idea were there.

That park was fruiting well last year right by the beach. I know that azures dont grow up here lol but what I was saying was thaT THEY HAVE ENCROACHED INTO THE DUNE GRASS or more realistically that the grass has encroached in on the wood chips planted years ago. would be more than happy to show you where. there is also a very good baeo spot there as well just in another part of the park. the park people also routinely smash one of the patches there. I have wittnessed first hand. I have been harvesting there every year for 6 years now. This is my 8th season and seattle is the first place I ever picked mushrooms at. the area is right down on the beach pm me we can meet up this weekend when I am down there. got a lot of other spots to scope out as well.

That particular patch has some very hidden yet productive areas. I also tried to transplant azures there one year but my technique was flawed and as far as I know nothing fruitful ever caME OF IT. WOULD LOVE TO HOOK UP AND CHECK SOME SPOTS. This saturday I should be in seattle picking all the live long day. dawn to dark style. Might be there with cardboard sometime tomorrow as well. If I dont end up in seattle I will be in Astoria. I find that fresh cyans and azures are near the same potency varying poatch to patch you know. bUT i WOULD SAY THAT DRIED AZURES ARE LESS POTENT THAN DRIED CYANESCENS in my opinion.

I dont know what aim is. I think its all about the quality of the fresh fruits and the drying method. Most of the azures I find are usually fairly mature some pins and closed cappers. but most of the cyans I harvest are at prime potency stage right as or after the cap opens. then I always cool air dry with a fan on a screen. so right there potency discrepencies can abound. but I still say theres nothing more mindboggling than a good 25 wet grams of azure pins.
however. In my bioassays I have found that azures grown from woody debris are more potent than those found inhabiting pure dune environments( strawberry dune fort stevens etc) and the woodlovers grow somewhat larger in stature with the stems being much thicker and the caps more broadly umbonate without the nipple sometimes present on the caps of those growing in the dunes. a very interesting mushroom really. always full of suprises

You know man I have always wondered what I would say if I had to open up my bag and show someone (cop) what I had. I always had in the back of my mind I would say (if it went to court ) that it is my religion and mushrooms give me a way to be one with god. I know by the Constitution that we have the right to practice whatever religion we want to. But then to actually define what the US government calls a religious organization and to get tax exemptions for non profits it would actually need to have a body of members established. Like the Church of Monday night Football or something. It would be kinda cool to have a group of people that think the same way and feel that we should not have the fear of being arrested for something as enlightening and spiritual as mushrooms. I cant express enough how mushrooms have helped me become a better person (I should probably take alot more cause I am still wacked). But they have helped to clean out the cobwebs.

I feel the same way but we might get in trouble here because its getting a little off topic. Start a thread in the off topic area. that said I want to say that if the native american church can use peyote for religious purposes due to ancestral use... we should have the same claim to mushrooms if you can prove ancestral use. thereby inabling most latin americans definite rights due to ancestral use as common and recent ase peyote among the native americans of the west. And going back further you could argue that we all should have the right because you know that far enough back in time many other european pagans experimented with hallucinogenic mushrooms. aamanitas for example but you know that with the growth of agriculture in humans psilocybe habitats were crerated as well... pastures most importantly here. wouldnt resourceful peoples who were used to hunting and gathering find these mushrooms exploiting the habitats created by themselves experiment with them? I guess I am going a little mckenna on you here. but at least we shoild have the right to be responsible adults and practice our spirituality in the way we find most effective.

i'm in southwest bc, haven't seen mushrooms of any sort anywhere yet this year. last night was the only real rain we've had for a few weeks here. do you know how long it takes for them to pop up after it rains?

I just have to mention that I have been having a lot of intense dreams lately where the mushies were in trouble. The big picking grounds has been massively disturbed in key areas, as if the park knows what's going on. It got big there last year after people advertised it as a key location (this forum was part of that). Strangely almost no fungul activity is taking place at all there this year, when usually there is an overwhelming variety. Fungicide, perhaps.

It's creepy. The dreams, the vibe in the parks, etc. Not sure what we are to do except to do some Johnny Mycellium work in our own locales. Spread that spawn like crazy.

I've never actually tried grazing the mushrooms...thought about it a couple times.
It's not illegal to be high.
What did they say?

dood the pins normally grow out of the ground and develop into mature fruitbodies. If the mycelium "threw" the pins as you say that would really suck...we would be finding scattered pins all over the place just laying there and never really be able to figure out where they came from. Not to mention the fact that the pins wouldnt mature. Who told you about these illusive "throwing pins"?? That actually sounds like a liability man if they threw themselves hard enough they could put out an eye.
