lol baby snakes

So, I'm staying at my parent's farm this week, and it's flooded pretty bad. This field is under 6 feet of water:



My parent's house is an old farmhouse with a limestone foundation, and when the water started to get up close to the house, all of these little snakes started showing up. I found one snuggled up to my sleeping dog the other day. :rofl:

This little guy likes the heat pad for my dad's jalapeno seedlings:

Really. I've never seen one with that particular pattern before. I thought the one in my pic was a garter snake :shrug:

The one in your pic is a garter snake, but they have different patterns like the spotted one above.

Yeah, there are a lot of garter variants/subspecies.

I've seen ones like the one in the OP before.

No, it's on a little patch of high ground. Lots of people around the area are flooded out, though. Worst flooding since at least 2008, and probably a bit worse than then, too.

There was a lot of snow this winter, and it melted pretty fast.
