kingsnakes prefer small rodents... I just recently nabbed a 5 foot corn snake and a 6 foot black king snake... both keep the mice down around the garden and the house

yup, desert king.
also, these are rather tolerant to rattlesnake venom.
try feeding it a few earthworms and small frogs. even tadpoles

I thought king snakes ate mostly other snakes.

I know it's a baby, i'm asking about mature kingsnakes.

kingsnakes mostly eat rodents but they are one of the few non-venomous snakes that eat other snakes which is probably why that sticks in your mind...
