1 pint jars, slow growth

Well here's the deal, accidentally bought 1 point jars instead of half pint, but went ahead with it.
Been 3 weeks now, in incubator with masking tape still on all the holes. So far 0 contams, and most jars have nickle to quarter shaped growth, with 2 jars having more like silver dollar sized.
What is a time frame like on a full pint jar, think they should maybe be untaped and flip? Had problems with contams in last batch, so a bit weary.
Thansk in advance for advice!

if you want faster growth just get the 1/2 pints and start again. Also if it is very wet in there loosening the jar lid can help. Wait to take the tape off and flip until later. Don't know exact time frame, just be patient or start again with 1/2 pints, but don't pitch the pints, then you'll be set up for a cycle.

pint jars definately take longer.. they will seem to be done, but the core will need a few more days then usual to be fully done.. it's not a huge amount of difference, maybe like a week longer then half pint jars.. although, the first jars i innoculated took about 35 days.. i did not apply the spore solution as evenly as desired though.. i always use both, as half pint jars are nice to cut up and case, while taking a pint jar and crumbling to fill the gaps.. works for me...

With 1 pint jars always have 5 innoculation holes the one in the center is very important.

Waaaaaaaaaaaaait. Uncover those fuckin holes, that shit needs to get air to survie too. If anything cover your hole with polyfill disks but U NEED AIR. BTW, I never ever cover my 1/2 pint or 1 pint jar holes. They are made to breathe from

Hmm see I have read a few posts that said leaving masking tape on is a good idea as gas can still exchange through the tape but it helps prevent contams...?

I use foil during sterlization to keep water out, after that I have no use for em. I carefully peel em off the jars for inoculation and then let the jars sit with the holes open from beginning of colonization to end.

Whaaaaaaaat is this shit about pint jars?!? You can use pint jars and they are just as fast as .5 pint and you can way simplify your approach. #1 use birdseed/grains/etc. so you can shake them (PC a must) #2 incubate them #3 use a drill and a 1/4 inch bit and make a hole in the dome in the middle. The hole is big enough to innoculate with a syringe in any angle or do grain transfers/mycelium culture. Quickly cover the hole w/ cotton or polyfill. Great for air transfer. Simple. Should take 3-5 weeks depending on strain. Plus you can use a million experimental Teks to improve it or you can do a dance for JuJu. After that you're on your own. Don't worry, I don't make sense to myself sometimes, but I try. Oh, ya AND YOU ONLY NEED ONE LITTLE PIECE OF FOIL, NOT THE WHOLE ROLL!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
