I got so excited and then the vocals hit at 1:40 and I realized what this band was... :sad:

Lol you are biased than, this band is great. Some of their song's are a little to southern for me, but as the band is from texas what do you expect. They jam great though and being put off by vocals is ridiculous. Most of their Vocals are great in my opinion and while some of their songs are quite southern they have some much better written stuff, with chiller vocals.

It wasn't the particular sound of the guys voice that did it. Once those kicked in the direction that the band was taking hit me and it lost its magic for me... I do vocals myself so I sort of have to consider them an instrument of their own, comparable to a shitty guitarist trying to do a riff that pulls the song out of its groove.

I'll probably give them a second attempt, but me being put off by vocals is definitely not ridiculous. Frontman is an important position.

I get what your saying their is just a lot of music with shitty vocals IMO and a lot of it is popular, compared to most of that crap I have no issues with this guys voice, you should listen to the instrumental I posted if you are considering giving them another try, they definitely are a talented band.

I just checked out



Honestly, it's a personal thing. They've got good synergy and I'd probably enjoy dropping drugs and dancing to them live, but they are just too repetitive/jam bandy for me. I'm a bigger fan of well-constructed songs and these guys don't seem capable of that. They just know how to jam in the same key for long drawn out periods.

They definitely have some well constructed songs man, they pull of a pretty solid Fearless, Floyd cover, which not many bands can do. Keep in mind New Monsoon has been changing its members and is still getting used to adjustments, they use to have a 3 piece rhythm section to say the least.

And I have never heard that song southern dew so I can't verify, it could be one of their more southern songs that IMO are not worth the listen really, but I am biased against the south. I will give that song a listen and if it sucks I will post a better song u should check out lol

That song was definitely on the repetitive side, but I don't see how u can say they don't have well constructed songs, just because they are a "jam band" doesn't mean their song's are poorly constructed. If anything I think It is easier to play the same piece of music over and over without trying to expand on it.

Here is a long ass song that is both jammed out and IMO well constructed, it has a long percussion intro though so you may want to skip in 2 or 3~ minutes.

This song shows off their cultural influences more than any other as well.
It doesn't really start til after like 5 minutes of intro just to warn.
