yeah, the rave scene is pretty much dead, but it depends on what you consider the "rave" scene. underground parties between 89-94 were old school. it will never go back to that underground vibe.
i go to a lot of parties in the DC area and dont consider this "scene" to be dead at all. the ravers like myself that went to parties around 94-97 are now mostly into drum n bass, breaks or techhouse and are more in touch with reality now. i dont consider parties "raves" anymore, i just call them parties. they are just parties where electronic music happens to be played.
candy kids make me sick, i was never one of them and those kids will still remain in the clubs as long as young teens want to roll.
if you go to raves just for the music then you will probably have progressed the same way i and many others have. i still go to parties and have tons of friends that are likeminded people that are there just for the music and not for the "scene." its really just all about the beats

I dunno, it's something that's been around since the '80s, and it had its good and its bad aspects like everything else. It had its own life-arc, and it changed as it became exposed to media-hype and stylistic-reproduction...

I think, of a lot of pop cultures, it had a lot going for it. I didn't mind it at all, and at times, I thought it was pretty damned neat, but I could also see where people might not like it... Hey, it's better than hip hop and gansta rap -- not that I hate those -- every generational-clique has gotta have its own way to feel special and unique... :smirk:

Man, grammar and punctuation is starting to fuck with me and comfrumiscate my thoughtbles...

Only difference is that there's no stressy melodic stuff these days. They've been replaced with strange grinding noises, and the tempo has decreased substantially. We have what's called "Minimalistic psychedelic".

papaver, I know what you mean. I hate when certain activites or things become trends, and then it suddenly loses all its cool. Like if you discover something for the first time, and you think "hey this is pretty cool, something I might enjoy (be it whatever)" and then you learn how trendy it is and how it changes due to more and more popularity, and its just not hip anymore. Sure you could get over it, and just keep doing it, but then you get thrown into the same catagory as the people who ruined it, deeming you uncool as well.. its all rather silly how it works out like that.

no offense, but you really just dont know what you are talking about. go listen to drum n bass and you will hear your stressy melodic stuff. as a dj that spins drum n bass, i can tell you that you are missing out.

You're obviously the one who have no idea what you're on about. Drum n Bass is hardly to be categorized as "minimalistic psychedelic", is it? It's Drum-n-Bass. This is what I tried to explain in my post. That stupid E-tard and gabber shit is not to be associated with the actual psy scene. Atleast not the European one.

Check out an act called Krumelur, you'll see what I'm talking about.

The Psy trance scene is kicking off in Norway atleast..
We`ve had (that i know about) a couple og visits from the "big names" this year.. And hell yeah we`ve even had our first Psyfestival the same weekend the summerparade was in Oslo:)
..Hope it doesnt SPREAD toooo much..

Heh, Raving ain't what it use to be since about 1993, And that ain't no joke. Back then it was mostly college folk, people old enough to be responsible for their own actions. Map-points were aplenty and Nitrous was openly sold at every party, nothing like $2 Dollar Balloons all night. I don't want to get all nostalgic, I'll leave it at that.

wow, theres so much good dnb coming out now i dont know where to start... if you are going record shopping i would suggest anything by high contrast, klute, dkay, calibre or anything on Hospital records..
