Does everyone have it enabled? If not, then MsgBox messages will simply be missed by most users.

Most everyone should have it on.
Choose like the 5 most active members in the Pub and include their name on a messagebox post.
See how many reply back.

i had it disabled only to log on yesterday to see it had been re-enabled (not by me). i really hate that thing.

I think the original PM system was designed without taking into account that people would be engaging in lengthy PMs. I guess you and other people who don't like MsgBox think that it doesn't have the same "private" feel of a PM, which is understandable.

I do as well. I think conceptually it was a good idea, but the execution leaves much to be desired. Andy should set up a think-tank with people that don't like MsgBox in its current rendition as well as people that know how to code.
It won't happen, it seems this site is in a bit of rut so to speak. It'd be nice though, instead of having this clunky MsgBox system laying around in place of something better based off the same idea.

I don't mind it, however someone being able to message you after you put them on ignore through it, is absolute horse shit. Not sure if it has been fixed already but if it hasn't that shit needs to be done ASAP.

So MsgBox is permanently enabled for all users now? Because the last time I used it, the person never responded, and when I sent them a PM like a month or two later, they responded immediately.

Some people confuse the flashing PM symbol for the traditional message system, so they don't go to msgbox because they click on the PM link instead.
Other people hate it for reasons unknown, and refuse to use it unless twisted by their arm.
Some people use it exclusively because it rocks. :awesome:

I had it set to turn on automatically for them upon receipt of their first message, but people didn't like that idea, so I took that off.
For now, you need to send them a convention PM to let them know you would like to use the msgbox system with them.
Once they have it enabled, you can just stick with msgbox after that.

So, what's the status of this now? Does everyone have it enabled by default? Non-threaded PMs (traditional PMs) are so frustrating. Especially for technical discussions. Going back and finding a particular item of information is a nightmare.
