Mushrooms soaking in alcohol?

A little over a year ago a friend and I were at a grog shop, buying some absinth when the guy behind the counter informed us that it no longer "works" (we already knew they aren't allowed to have wormwood in it anymore), and suggested putting shrooms in it.

Last night I found a 1/4 bottle of Mezcal (kinda like nasty tasting Tequila) and thought.. hmmm... i wonder.
So i popped a mushroom in there and it's soaking away now, awaiting our next drinkin time.


Anyone tried soaking shrooms in alcohol?
Does it work, or do the active components not work well in alcohol?
And also, is it worth it.. or are shrooms and alcohol not a good mix?
(I have tried it once.. my first time, when I'd also had a couple of home-made weed-muffins.. the one blue meanie and a whole lot of beer - that was one crazy experience.. i posted a trip report up somewhere..)


Also - What the hell is with little freakin grubs in shrooms????? They're freakin maggots, aren't they? Can someone point me in the direction of some info on these little shits and the deal with them?

The PF extraction method is based on high proof grain alcohols, and people have reportedly been able to imbue tequila and the like with psychoactive properties.

Your best bet will be to grind/shred the mushrooms to provide for a greater surface area of contact, but it should work. As for dosage, it seems some people can have a rough time with alcohol and shrooms, so YMMV.

Also, I can't see a purpose in extracting psilocin/psilocybin into alcohol when it's already water soluble. You may as well just make tea.

High proof alcohol can be infused with psilocin/psilocybin and then evaporated far more quickly than water in order to obtain a concentrated concoction which is easily stored and used later.

Yeah, there isn't too much point.. mostly doing it coz I only had one shroom left, and then I had the idea to just chuck it in the bottle of grog and leave it there for a while.. lol - i'll post up if it actually does anything when i finally drink it

Did u ever drink that mescal?  Im just about to soak mushies in my cider for the priming bit.

hahaha, yeah I'm still around!  Always on The Shroomery! 

Wow... that was an old post!  Since then I've thought about doing a more intricate version of this... but not got around to it yet!  My seasonal supplies don't last very long, dang it! 

My idea was to mix some dried mushrooms with vodka and some other herbs/spices for flavouring.  Leave the mix to sit for a few weeks and then filter and test!
