If you aren't casing, i'd just put them on the lids of the jars which then sit on the perlite. but.. if your cakes are dry you will want to put them directly on the perlite.

Foaf uses the MMGG and finds that the cakes seem dry upon birthing, so Foaf sets his cakes on the perlight. FOAF recently tried resting cakes on wire frame above perlight and cakes fruited 1 time then went dormant. Once cakes were returned to perlight flushing returned.

Now, FOAF's raw materials may be drier than normal, or FOAF's measruing cups are not calibrated properly...
