Between 1990-2011 more than half a million children had to go to the emergency room for shopping cart related injuries.

Head injuries are obviously the most common and are on the rise.

What can be done to make shopping carts safer for children?

PS - marijuana doesn't cause the emotional, physical and financial devastation to families that these carts do.

need to cushion them, i remember as a kid being in them and the metal hurts like hell against your soft kid skin. Those square patterns are not comfortable

Maybe the kids need to have helmets on. Little babies are top heavy, all their weight is in their ginormous heads.

I watched a short clip of a Home depot worker being at the right place at the right time and caught this what looked like a new born as it fell over lol its head was acting like a anchor, its feet in the air and the home depot guy swooped it up.

Lucky little kid.

I'm willing to bet a lot of the injuries are parents putting the car seat ontop of the children's seat. If your baby is that small, you have to put the car seat in the bin where the groceries go. It isn't hard for the car seat to get nudged and fall.

They should turn shopping carts into little motorized automobiles with 1 seat for the children inside, equipped with a seatbelt. Have a throttle and brakes like a dirt bike on the outside for the driver, boom problemo solved. You could even scratch the throttle and brakes thing and just push it like a regular grocery cart although I would opt for throttle/brakes/Nitrous incase I wanna race. Grocery shopping will never be the same :cool:
